(Jeric's POV)
I am currently divided into two things. PBA Rookie Camp and what happened last night. James confessed his feelings to Dom. Dom turned him down because she loves someone else. I thought that she loves someone else was only an excuse to keep James away from her. But it turns out that it is true. Dom and I were best friends for years and throughout those years she never kept anything from me, until now. I am obsessing who is the lucky guy who made Dom fall in love and why she doesn't want me to know it. Perhaps it's Jeron? They're been very close and fond of each other lately. And maybe she knows na I'll tease her big time if I found out that she loves my younger brother. Maybe that's why she doesn't want me to know it.
"Uy, lalim ng iniisip mo ah." Jeric Fortuna gently and playfully shoved me. "Babae ba yan?"
"Hindi a. Nagcoconcentrate lang ako." I made up an excuse.
"Talaga lang a. Pero it looks like you are distracted." He pointed out.
"Wala 'to." I answered.
"Mukhang nakalimutan mo na kung ilang taon tayo magkasama dati. Kilala kita pre." Fortuna encouraged.
"Si Dom kasi e." I started.
"Oh, anong meron sa kanya? Don't tell me nain love ka na sa kanya. Sabi ko sayo malaki yung chance na mainlove ka sa best friend mo e."
"Dom's amazing. But she's not a girlfriend material for me. She's like my sister." I reasoned.
"Are you sure? Oh baka naman in denial ka lng? Tapos yun yung pinipilit mong paniwalaan." Fortuna grinned.
"E kung pinatatapos mo muna ako? Panay jump to conclusion ka e."
Fortuna looked straight at me and gave his attention.
"She's in love." I told him.
"To whom?" He asked.
"I don't know. She keeps it as a secret." I answered.
"Baka ikaw yon."
"Ako?? San naman galing yan?" I choked out an uncomfortable laugh.
"E kasi ayaw nyang sabihin sayo." He reasoned.
"Malabo yun pre." I answered.
"Bakit naman?" He asked.
"Sobrang magkaiba kami. Bukod sa hilig naming sa video games at sports wala na kaming pagkakatulad. Palagi nga kaming nagaaway diba. Kahit nga ako nagtataka bakit sya yung nagging best friend ko."
"But still, kahit halos aso't pusa kayo you are very fond of her and cares for her very much." He said in a isn't-it-obvious tone.
"I am." I admitted.
"Why?" Fortuna asked.
I looked at him dumbfounded.
"Why do you feel like that towards her?" He asked.
"Syempre. We're best friends." I answered.
"E ikaw na din nagsabi diba. Di mo alam kung bakit sya yung best friend mo." He remarked. "Ade parang hindi valid yung reason mo kung bakit sobrang halaga nya sayo."
"I know where you're headed." I answered. "Hindi yun yon. Nakalimutan mo na ba? May girlfriend ako. At hindi lang basta girlfriend, sya yung dream girl ko."
"Yung dream girl mo na gustong gusto mo na kahit bago mo pa makilala. Maybe you are not in love with her. Maybe you're in love with the idea."
Lucky for me, lunch time had ended. We went back to our activities but my head stayed at Fortuna's words.
