Chapter 52

Um, hi? I jus found this in my computer after all these years and I was like eh, I might as well publish this part since I have it from like five years ago. Sorry, this story is still on hiatus!

Recap:

Battera and Tsezugera talked to each other in whispers, their eyes moving to me couple of times.

"Tsezugera I want you testing those two boys as well," the older gentlemen spoke, taking a step away from the man who tested me few moments ago.

Killua and Gon shared a looked of excitement before stepping forward.

"You know how to use nen, right?" Tsezugera questioned as he crossed his arm over his chest, "Show me your ren."

I took a step back, watching as my two friend's aura spiked, their ren surrounding their body.

It became silent until Battera looked at Tsezugera in question, "So...?"

The man known as Tsezugera closed his eyes, "No."

I frowned, what do you mean no...?

"If they played, they would be heading for a certain death."

Well....

That....

Sucks....

NIJIKA P.O.V.

"How can you be so sure when we haven't even tried yet?!" Gon exclaimed as he stepped forward, his eyebrows furrowing.

Tsezugera scoffed eyeing the two boys beside me, "If you try, it'll already be too late. Still, your death would be a positive alternative. If you were able to prolong your existence, it would just be a bother."

I raised an eyebrow, my arms crossing over my chest. Killua and I shared eye contact, the boy looking as confused as I felt.

"As long as a player is active in the game, it is impossible to reset or remove the memory card. In other words, as long as the player is in the game, we can't enter a new player or insert a new card," the older man explained as he stared us down with his eyes narrowed.

Killua hummed as he nodded, seeming to understand, "So in other words, you mean you can't save the game."

"Exactly, that means if we send a new player into the game, and he manages to complete it and return, none of the acquired data could be recovered."

Our eyes shifted to Battera who stood at the back, "Counting what I acquired today, I own 32 copies of greed island. The number of people I have employed, including professional and amateur hunter, is around 100. But unfortunately, half of them if not more have represent a loss for us," I could hear Gon gulp from where he stood as he listened to the man's words, "What I mean is that they've refused to return to the real world and they're surviving within the game."

My eyes shifted down to my arms, gathering a bit of aura, making my little egg appear. A pleasant sigh escaped my lips as I felt how warm the egg felt on my bare arm.

My emerald green eyes moved back to Battera, realizing it probably would be wise to listen to what he has to say, "The individual data display on the screen have stood unchanged for months and some even years. I would like to avoid that situation at all cost, and that's why the selection of players is really strict. A player who can at least return to reality with a few items picked up in a game, those are the kind of people we're looking for."
