Norris, Oliver and I decided to take a little trip out to the café to confirm a few details. We slide into a u-shaped booth and took our seats. I ordered a chocolate milkshake we shared some fries.

"What's wrong? You look kind of worried?" Oliver asks.

"Well... It's just that I've never done this before."

"Oh, you'll be fine." He assures.

"All you have to do is stall him so that we can get ready." Norris says.

"Yeah... I just, can't really think of much to stall him."

"You'll be able to do something," Norris says with a shrug.

"And how is this going to be a surprise, I'm sure he knows when his birthday is..."

"He has never remembered, like ever."

"Okay then..."

"Don't worry, you'll do fine." Olivia says.

We finish our food and drinks, me and Norris going to the car first while Oliver pays the bill.

We get into the car and I stare blankly out onto the road.

"How can we get you to be comfortable with this?" he asks.

"I just don't want to mess it up."

"Do you need some ideas or something?"

"What?"

"If you need some tips you can ask your friends..."

"What do you think I should do?"

"Hmmm..." he says with a thinking face on, "Talk to him."

"Well, that's just helpful, I would not have thought of that." I tell him sarcastically and turn to my friends for help, realising that I have been bombarded with messages.

Emily: I called it

Rose: So when's the date

Oh right.

Emily: Come on, get online

Rose: she must be spending time with him

Emily: don't give him all that time though, don't see him a few days before

Emily: you have to play hard to get

Well that's scratched since his birthday is the day before.

Rose: Send us pics

Emily: Yes!

Emily: Good ones

Me: It's on Friday afternoon

Emily: plans?

Me: I dunno

Rose: Where you guys going?

Me: I dunno

Me: he said he would pick me up

Emily: if you need to lure him to your room

Emily: remember the cap

Me: Thanks?

I sit on the bench as I wait for Eugene at the courtyard. I look through our plans again as I wait for him. Moments later, the wide doors swing open as students start streaming out of the building, amongst them is a face I'm growing familiar to.

"Hello!" I say, jumping up in front of him.

"Hey, what are you doing here?" he asks with a bright smile on his face.
