Chapter 29 - One After Another

(LUCY'S POV)

I can't believe Gray wants to kill Natsu.

Has he forgotten their bond?

Has he forgotten that Natsu is our friend?

I just can't stand watching this, especially Romeo. He's just so heartbroken, the person he looked up to is the one to kill his father. He must be feeling terrible.

"P-Please Gray . . . stop this. You can't k-kill Natsu . . . there must be another wa-" Before I could complete.

"WHICH WAY?!? WE'VE TRIED EVERYTHING!!! WE TRIED STOPPING HIM AND EVEN NEGOTIATING, BUT NOTHING WORKS!!!"

I looked at him in shock, he's never yelled at me like that.

"NOW HE'S KILLED A MEMBER OF OUR FAMILY!!! THE ONLY WAY TO SURVIVE IS TO KILL HIM, EVEN IF IT HURTS ME TOO!!!" He looked down as a teardrop fell on the ground.

My eyes softened at the scene, he really does care. This is killing him too but he's doing it for Fairy Tail.

"Gra-"

"I'm sorry Lucy, I know you love Natsu a lot . . . but this is something I have to do for us. He is no longer the Natsu we all knew, he's become the monster hidden within him. And every monster must be stopped before he destroys everything, but in this case . . . he needs to be killed," he turned his back on me and got ready to attack Natsu.

After that speech, I couldn't find the courage to defend Natsu. Whatever Gray said was 100% correct, there was no denying it. But I still don't want Natsu to die. 

Without him, my life is like a body without a soul. 

A book without words.

A mage without magic.

A guild without friendship.

A world without people and . . . 

A heart without love.

No matter what the situation is, I love Natsu way too much to let him die in front of my eyes.

"ICE MAK-" Before Gray could attack someone interrupted him.

"STOP!!!" all eyes turned to the owner of the voice.

MASTER MAVIS!?!

"Stop this at once Zeref!" Master Mavis yelled.

Her voice echoed in our ears. Zeref turned to her in surprise.

Master Mavis put on a stern expression, "What business do you have here?"

Zeref smirked, "What business do you have being alive?"

They glared daggers at each other. I felt bad for them in a way, once lovers and now enemies. Reminds me of a story my mother read me a long time ago. A fairy tale about 2 people whose fate would never let them be together. Never thought I would witness it with my own eyes, Mavis and Zeref, just like them fate doesn't want me and Natsu to be together.

"What happened to Natsu?" Cana looked at E.N.D with shocked eyes.

Master Makarov and Master Mavis didn't look very shocked.

"I knew this day would come, this war would happen and countless lives would be lost," Master Mavis spoke as her eyes fell on Macao's dead body.

"W-What do you mean?" Erza asked in fear.
