Liliana's pov

Jackson and I managed to get around two hours of sleep that night, before his mom called saying that she had arrived in Seattle, so we got dressed before heading back to the hospital to meet her. Even though I was tired I didn't mind, since I wanted to know how Brooks and Richard are doing.

"How's Brooks?" I ask Derek once I see him in the hallway.

"She didn't make it." He sighs sadly.

"Oh my god. I can't believe it." I sigh.

"I know. I have to help the interns tell her mom, which I'm not looking forward to at all." He says.

"I imagine not." I say.

"Have you heard anything else about Richard?" He asks me.

"No. Jackson and I just got here, but him and his mom are going to check in on him right now." I say.

"I still can't believe everything that has happened here in the past two days." Derek sighs.

"I kind of can. Seattle Grace surgeons have been known to be involved in a unusual amount of deadly situations." I shrug.

"That is true."

"I'm really sorry about Brooks. I know that you enjoyed working with her."

"Thanks. I appreciate it." He sighs sadly. "If you don't mind can you get Zola from daycare and watch her, just until I talk to the interns and find out how far away Heather's mom is?"

"Of course. I'll go get her right now." I smile before going to get Zola, then bringing her with me to the attendings lounge, so I can get her a snack.

"You are just so adorable and perfect." I smile at Zola as I feed her a snack. "And when you grow up you're going to be an amazing surgeon, just like your parents. You're going to be a neurosurgeon like your aunt Lily, but we'll let your dad think it's because of him." I joke.

"You know she doesn't know what you're talking about, right?" Jackson smiles kissing me once he walks into the lounge.

"I'll have you know Zola is very advanced for her age. I bet she knows every word I'm saying. Isn't that right, Zola?" I smile.

"If you say so." He laughs.

"How's Richard?" I ask.

"The same. My mother pretty much forced Bailey to close him up, because she feels he's to unstable for the surgery right now."

"I hope he makes it. The hospital wouldn't be the same without him." I sigh.

"He will." Jackson assures me before his pager goes off. "They need me in surgery. It'll be a couple of hours. I'll page you when I finish." He says.

"Avery, I just got you're shoulder to stop hurting and you're really about to take your sling off and operate for hours." I scold him.

"A life depends on it." He smirks kissing me on the cheek before he leaves.

"Why is he so stubborn?" I ask Zola as she babbles to me. I continue to sit and play with Zola until Derek comes to pick her up, so he can take her home where the babysitter is meeting him at. I go take a nap in a on-call room for a little while and I decide to go check in on Meredith and Bailey once I wake up.

"Hey, you look stressed." I say walking up to Jackson as he stands at the front desk.

"I am. I need to find someone to officiate my patients wedding. We're not sure if she's going to make it and she wants to get married to her fiance right now, just in case." He says.
