The Masquerade

As the prolonged period of silence escalates your intrigue, life starts building walls of illusion around you.

The second you feel devastated, suddenly a tender touch revives you..

"I hate it."

She muttered to myself, as she felt the car screeching to halt and realized they had reached their destination.

.

Party, clubbing, socializing had never been her cup of tea.

Somehow she had always been skeptical about these trends. She didn't doubt why she had earned the name of "America's Most Boring Teenager" back in school by some of her classmates.

How right they were to title her that, she thought.

But it didn't bother her back then, it was not going to bother her now.

Her eyes remained downcast, as she heard Mason asking-

"Ready to go, Khushi?"

.

She nodded with a sigh, having no choice, as he opened the passenger door for her and she got out of his car.

"So, the fresher's night is actually nothing but a dance night?"

She asked Mase, over the phone.

"Well, yes. Technically, it is."

He replied, as she sensed his grin over the phone.

.

"Well, then forget it. There's no way I'm going."

"Are you mad Krazy Khushi?"

"No, just old school."

.

"You do know right that your drama queen best friend is going to launch terrorist attacks if you don't make it tomorrow. Don't you?"

"That's the only thing that bothers me."

"Well then for her sake, do come."

"Whatever!"

"Should I consider that a 'yes'?"

"Don't consider anything."

"Come on now."

.

"Umm.. Okay. What's the dress code?"

"Prom kinds."

"I see. Any color?"

"Yes. Black."

"Wow. A perfect color, for a perfect mourning day."

"Shut up Khushi."

"No. Humor me."

"Let's keep that for tomorrow?"

"..."

"What?"

"Nothing."

"I will come to pick you up at 7."

"Excuse me?"

"In my car."

"I know that weirdo. But why would you come?"
