The next day at school things got pretty heated between Zarkle. But before I can tell you that story, I have to return Rileys book. Mainly because she has my math book, and I have a test on it soon. I walk into first period, home room, and I look up. There she is. I'm terrified.
Lucas - Riley
Riley - What?
Lucas - here's your history book.
Riley - Right. Thanks.
Lucas - Can I have my math book back?
Riley - I actually don't have it right now.
What?
Lucas - Where is it?
Riley - I left it at home.
Lucas - Can you bring it tomorrow?
Riley - If I remember
This girl knows exactly how to piss me off
Lucas - I have a math test soon. I need it back
Riley - Well maybe you shouldn't have picked up the wrong book.
Lucas - Maybe you should look where you're going next time
She looks up, takes a minute, and then speaks.
Riley - Believe me there won't be a next time. You'll get your book.
There was no need in talking to her anymore, so I take my seat. And Mr. Mathews starts his class.
Mr. Mathews - Alright. So because you are all seniors now, it's time to talk about the big senior project.
Class - Awww
Mr. Mathews - Oh you big babies. With that being said, you're going to do a presentation. Your experiences in high school. Social experiences, class work, tests, after school activities. Everything and anything that has to do with the last four years.
Farkle - When is it due?
Mr. Mathews - You'll know.
Maya - What does that even mean?
Mr. Mathews - It means, you'll know when it's done.
Riley - Independent right?
Mr. Mathews - Wrong
Once he said that. I knew. We all knew. Shit
Mr. Mathews - Groups of five.
Fuck
Maya - No
Mr. Mathews - Yes
Riley - Id rather fail.
Mr. Mathews - Riley, Maya, Farkle, Zay, and Lucas.
Riley - Guess I'll be staying in high school, right Maya?
Maya - There's no way I'm doing a project with them.
Mr. Mathews - The rest of you, you get to choose your partners.
The bells rings. Everyone gets up and leaves the classroom, Mr. Mathews looks up from his papers, and sees that the five of us, haven't moved.
Mr. Mathews - How can I help you?
Maya - Were not doing this project together.
Mr. Mathews - I'm the teacher, you're the students. You do what I say.
Riley - It's not fair dad.
Mr. Mathews - Fair? What isn't fair, is that you let yourself go. This whole break up between the five of you, isn't fair. You're doing the project together, no further discussion about it.
I can feel Riley and Maya stare at me, I couldn't look up though. I couldn't look at them.
