Lucas - Are you okay?
I turn around and there was Lucas, standing in front of me.
Riley - What?
Lucas - Are you okay?
Riley - Yeah I'm fine.
Lucas - What were you and Maya arguing about?
Riley - Its nothing.
I start to walk away from the school
Lucas - Wait, its only third period. Where are you going?
Riley - I need to be alone
Lucas - I don't think you should be alone right now Riley.
Riley - and why is that?
Lucas - You look pretty upset.
Riley - well i am.
Lucas - Im pretty hungry. Do you maybe want to go to lunch with me. I mean you don't have to talk to me or anything. We can just sit there and eat.
I think it about it. Would it be so bad?
Riley - Fine
Lucas and i start to walk. We go to a pizza place near the school. He paid for my food. He's such a gentlemen. We just sat there the whole time, not saying a word. And for some reason, it was the most at ease I felt in days. We got up and left the restaurant, we sat down on a bench in some park.
Riley - I need to do something for thats going to hurt someone.
Lucas - Is that someone you?
Riley - Maybe it's me, or maybe it's Maya. I'm not sure yet, but one of us is going to get hurt.
Lucas - Which is the right thing to do?
Riley - if I don't say anything, I'll be fine. But Maya will be the one who has to suffer. If I do say something, I'll be the one who has to suffer.
Lucas - that's a very difficult problem.
Riley - It is.
Silence. I turn my body and look at Lucas.
Riley - I need your help Lucas.
Lucas - What is it?
Riley - I need you to be with me when I tell me parents.
Lucas - Tell them what?
