"Wait! So it spelled the name of your mother? And you got a call that she's in the hospital?" I just nod and feel the tears nearly leaving my eyes. Suddenly a loud noise of stone crashing on stone sounds. We all jump again and I grab Colbys arm.
"What was that?" Amanda asks, slightly panic in her voice.
"Honestly, I just want to leave. I wanna go back, charge my phone and call my dad." I say quiet so only Colby can hear. He takes my hand, that was grabbing his arm.
"Guys, I think it would be the best if I leave with Elli. She needs to know what's wrong with her mother." Everyone is looking at us and I just hope they agree.
"I won't mind. Is it okay for you guys?" Elton asks. I'm relieved. When Elton agrees, I think the other will too.
"Yea, it's fine. You need to know what's wrong." The others agree and like thousand stones fall off my heart. Elton gives Colby the car key.
"Keep your phone with you, we call if you have to get us." Colby nods and then we leave, he is still holding my hand and I'm thankful for this.
-
As fast as we could we left this creepy place. We only slow down as we see Eltons car. I'm still trying to start my phone, but it shows no reaction. Colby opens the car and I take the passenger seat.
"No success?" he asks as he starts driving. I sigh and lean back.
"I swear, I had at least 50%. My phone doesn't lose 50% in this short amount of time when I'm not using it." He looks over to me for a second. I can't say what he could possibly think.
"As soon as we're back home, you can charge your phone and call your dad back. Don't worry. It'll be okay." I smile thankfully.
"I hope you're right."
-
Nervously I wait til my phone turns on as I plugged it in back at the house. I can't stop tapping with my foot on the floor while waiting. Then it turns on.
"Was it empty?" Colby asks and sits down next to me on the couch.
"It looks like it was, but how is that possible?"
"A ghost did it. I'm sure. Or a demon?" I look at him with a slight smile.
"Probably, but why? What have I done?" I look at him curious and he's just looking back and shrugs. Then my phone rings and I immediately take the call.
-
Colby left the room as I started talking in german and now I look for him. I find him in the kitchen sipping coffee, I guess it's coffee. As he sees me with my red face, because I couldn't hold the tears back, he puts his mug down and comes to me.
"Is she alright?" I nod and wipe the tears from my face.
"She was dead for like two minutes, but she's fine now."
"That's good. I told you, everything is okay." I smile for a short moment and Colby looks at me concerned. "So, what's wrong? Why aren't you happy?" I sigh.
"It's complicated. Our relationship, my moms and Is, was never good. She never really cared about me so why do I right now?" I feel the tears rise again and Colby pulls me in a hug. I don't hesitate and hug back.
"She is still your mother."
"But I don't need her, I don't miss her so why am I crying?" Colby goes a few steps back and I think I said something wrong, but he smiles.
"I have something for you." I look confused as he goes to the sink and grabs a mug that is standing next to it. He comes back to me and hands it over to me. I take it and smile as I see what's inside.
"You made me hot chocolate? That's so cute, Colby. Thank you." I take a sip, but it's still really hot.
"You wanna watch some videos? I could show you, what we all do for living." I smile and nod, before I follow him to the smaller room next to the kitchen.
-
"Hey, Elli." I blink a few times and stretch my arms. I hit someone in the face accidently and I sit straight up.
"Oh shit, I'm sorry Colby. I didn't-"
"It's okay." he says smiling. "Elton called. I should get them ASAP. You'll come with me?" I look around this empty house.
"I'll come. Don't wanna get bitten by the demon living in my phone." Colby looks amused and so we leave the house again to get the others.
-
"Dude, something pulled off my blanket." Corey says as he jumps into the car. This time Amanda is going to sit on Eltons lap. "And we left it there. We left all of our things there except the bags." Everyone is in the car and Colby starts driving. I turn around to face the others.
"I don't believe you. You're kidding me, right?" I say not believing a word.
"I swear, it's true. You can look." Elton gives me his camera and I somehow manage to find the clip. Full of disbelieve I look at the recording.
"Is it true?" Colby asks, looking to me for a second. I give the camera back, this time with a terrified look.
"It is. You can see everyone in the frame and something pulled it off. Something that wasn't in the frame." Well, I guess that's a goodbye to my sleep tonight.
"Another thing. How's your mom, Elli?" Amanda asks. This time I'm not turning around.
"She's fine. She was dead for like two minutes, but she's fine."
"Wow, that's awesome, but you don't seem happy." I sigh and convince myself to smile at her for a moment.
"This night just fucked me up. I am happy that she's fine." And with this it's quiet in the car.
-
Back at the mansion everyone went straight upstairs to their rooms, except for Colby. I just asked him if I can watch Netflix on the TV.
"You don't wanna try to sleep?" he asks and I shake my head.
"I won't be able to and I have a watchlist I wanna finish, so why not?" He looks at his phone.
"Would you mind if I stay too?"
"No, but you don't have to stay. Just explain how I start Netflix and you can go to sleep. It's past 4am, you need sleep."
"So do you. I stay." With this he jumps at the couch and reaches for the remote control. I shake my head smiling.
"Fine. I'll just change my clothes to something more comfy." I claim and get some short and comfortable clothes to change in the bathroom with the hundred mirrors, 24 pee-pee room as Corey calls it
