ARABELLA WOKE UP FROM her nap a few minutes before she arrived at King's Cross Station. Rubbing her eyes, she realized that she hadn't actually shopped for presents yet. She already gave Lily hers but she wasn't able to buy any for her parents or for the Marauders. She made a mental note to go shopping later in the day and thought about what she was going to get for each person.

The train came to a halt, signalling to Arabella that she was already in King's Cross. Grabbing her things, she got out of train only to be greeted by a swarm of people in the station. She searched for her mother's familiar face amongst the crowd of people. She was almost starting to panic when she felt a hand touch her shoulder.

Arabella turned, only to see her mother, Alessandra Arroway, smiling brightly at her.

"Merlin, mum! You scared me." She said, putting a hand over her heart.

"I'm sorry sweetheart." Her mother smiled, embracing Arabella in a hug.

"Okay mum, people are starting to bump into us now." Arabella said, trying to escape her mother's grip.

"Just a few more seconds." Alessandra says, tightening in her grip even more. "I'm sorry sweetie, I just missed you so much."

"I missed you too mum." Arabella laughed.

"If you missed me so much, how come you rarely wrote to us?" her mother said, releasing Arabella and helping her with her things.

"I'm sorry, I've just had a lot of things on my mind these past few months." Arabella said sighing.

"Is one of those things a boy you may like?" her mother asked in a teasing tone.

"Oh Merlin, NO! I don't like anyone." Arabella replied, trying to navigate her way through people in the station.

"Oh really? Almost five years in Hogwarts and you've never fancied anyone?" her mother asked in disbelief.

"I'm sure I don't fancy anyone mum."

"I find that hard to believe. What about the boy who lives next door? What was his name again?" her mother asked, a questioning look on her face, "Ah, Sirius? You two seem to be quite close."

Arabella tensed up at the mention of Sirius' name and her mother clearly noticed.

"Is everything alright sweetheart?" her mother asked concerned.

"Everything is fine mum." she replied, smiling slightly so her mother wouldn't be too worried.

Alessadra didn't quite believe her but dropped the subject nonetheless, not wanting to further upset her daughter. They went home in a comfortable silence.

IF THERE was one thing that you should know about the Arroways, you should know that they took the holidays very seriously. Something that Arabella, after having spent the last four christmases at Hogwarts, had almost forgotten this until she entered the front door.

She gasped when she was greeted with a flurry of white and silver. From the pillowcases to the tablecloth, they were mostly coloured in white and/or silver. Snowflake decorations were hung in the walls and the ceiling. In the corner of the living room stood a tall, glistening Christmas tree. Decorated to the nines with silver baubles and bright, white Christmas lights. Under the tree was a number of christmas presents just waiting to be opened.

"Mum, it's beautiful." Arabella said in awe.

"Thank you darling." She replied smiling. "When you told me you were coming home, I wanted to make it is as perfect as possible."
