Entering the Heavenly Demon Sect's Trial Grounds

The news of Ye Gui Feng defeating Lei Jiaozi quickly spreads and upon recovering from his wounds Lei Jiaozi grinds his teeth together in shame.

Having been defeated by Ye Gui Feng Lei Jiaozi couldn't even face his master with a straight face seeing as how he had lost to someone that's at the early stages of the Nascent Soul realm equivalence.

In the end Long Huangrong, Feng Jian Yun, and Li Shuiling had all managed to enter the Heavenly Demon Sect under the banners of the Demon Immortal Faction as they begin to work towards the Nascent Soul realm.

"So you finally decided to talk to me?"

A day after Ye Gui Feng's commemoration as the Legacy Disciple of Xie Mo Xin Wei Hailan finally meets with Xie Mo Xin face to face in the faction head's pagoda.

Nervously Xie Mo Xin places his hands on his hood. He truly didn't want Wei Hailan to have to see his face this way as his hand trembles.

Wei Hailan approaches Xie Mo Xin and places her smooth hands over Xie Mo Xin's wrinkled hands and pulls back the hood to reveal a face that's worn with age.

Compared to Wei Hailan who appears in her late twenties at most Xie Mo Xin looks far, far older.

"..."

Xie Mo Xin bitterly lowers his head in dejection as he cannot bring himself to look Wei Hailan in the eyes.

"..."

Wei Hailan smiles kindly.

"You old fool. It's not that bad."

"What are you talking about? I'm nothing more than an old man now. Compar-"

Wei Hailan shakes her head.

"That doesn't matter. I'm happy that you finally decided to talk to me face to face."

"I-"

Wei Hailan places a finger to Xie Mo Xin's lip.

"You didn't have to worry about something like this. Sure being able to spend an eternity together is ideal but I'd rather you not avoid meeting with me again over failing to keep your promise."

"I'm... Sorry."

Xie Mo Xin sighs and Wei Hailan hugs him.

"It's fine. What matters now is that we're together. So what if I can't spend an eternity with you? It's better than not being able to spend time with you at all."

Tears leak out of Xie Mo Xin's eyes as he holds up his wrinkled old hands to embrace Wei Hailan back.

Staying in each other's embrace for a full minute the two sat down together as they catch up on old times.

"*Sigh* Xiao Feng... This child..."

"I'm grateful towards him."

"Did he tell you what he said to me if I didn't talk to you?"

"He did. How nervous where you when you said that he won't accept you as his master if you didn't?"

"Very. You have to know that if he didn't I wouldn't have a successor at all."

Someone of the Heavenly Demon physique is of grave importance to the Heavenly Demon Sect. That is because this person will eventually become the one that is destined to rule this sect.

But Xie Mo Xin had failed to reach immortality. He didn't just fail to carry out his promise with Wei Hailan but he had also failed to carry out his responsibilities to the sect.
