Escape from Cirices Part 1

Chapter 6

Already, Meropian soldiers had spread themselves amongst the crowd. She noticed some Meropian boys which were so battered and flustered and were only thirteen or fourteen years old. A few female soldiers hunted around, but none were younger than twenty. Abigail saw a girl with waist-long, blonde hair pushing through the crowd. Already, people were fighting and the Meropian numbers were growing larger by the minute.

"Lokeyia!!! Lokeyia!!!", she screamed and gasped.

"Abigail! Where are you?!", she heard Lokeyia's reply and found Lokeyia beside her.

"We need to go to Magda's house", Lokeyia said and as we passed it, I saw a girl with medium length black hair going our way.

"Magda! Magda!". The girl wasn't Magda. It was an older girl, Angela. But then they saw Magda leaving her house. When she saw Lokeyia and Abigail, she yelled their names.

Magda, Lokeyia and Abigail travelled away from the main streets and into the quieter ones in the outskirts. Abigail heard an angry yell and saw a Meropian man running towards Noctus, a sword stuck out in front of him. With a swift kick, Noctus kicked him from behind, so squarely in the stomach that he went flying two metres and finally hit the ground with a loud thump. Next, three soldiers came running to them. One was a man about same age as the man that Noctus kicked. The second soldier was a ferocious - looking woman. The last one was a boy who was about fifteen or sixteen. He should be at school, not fighting in war! The woman chose Abigail and ran towards her. Abigail shot an arrow at her, but she swerved unexpectedly. The second arrow sunk itself into her calf. Abigail still didn't lower her bow when she sunk to the ground.

The boy approached Lokeyia and as he did, Lokeyia drew her sword. When he was close enough, she struck out at his sword and knocked it straight out of his hand. The boy lunged for it, but Lokeyia had a good grasp and drew it out of his way. She lifted it above his head threateningly. The boy screamed and ran away.

Meanwhile, Magda was having trouble with the man. Lokeyia had an easy picking; the man was far stronger, faster and braver than the boy. The man was trying to get up onto a resisting Mervis who bucked and went mad every time he did. Lokeyia led Jade up behind him. The man roared angrily as Magda slashed a cut down his arm with her dagger. He jumped off Mervis, abandoning the attempt to get onto him, pull Magda off and drag her away. As he moved backwards, Jade stood on her hind legs and threw herself on the soldier. He squealed and couldn't get up.

A figure, most likely a Cirician darted over to the soldier and snatched his sword out of his hand.

"Sja! What are you doing? You're meant to be inside", Magda yelled.

Sja handed the sword over to Magda. Her dark brown hair was untidily loose and her brown eyes were full of fear. At that moment, two huge soldiers came pelting down the street. Sja screamed.

"RUN", Abigail screamed at the top of her lungs. Noctus, Jade and Mervis were kicked into action as they galloped over the cobble paths. Abigail turned her head long enough to see the two soldiers each grabbing one of Sja's skinny arms and dragging her away.
