She parked the boat and Abigail kicked the door open. They ran to the helicopter. Two guards guarded it. Lokeyia drew her knife and Magda drew her dagger. They appeared behind the guards and stabbed them in the legs, not killing them but temporarily disabling them. They tied their hands behind their backs. Abigail and Sara stripped off their belts and Magda and Lokeyia burrowed through their pockets for any more loots, keys or anything that could be useful.
Sara tried the door, but was locked. She took the guards' keys off Lokeyia and tried them. Finally the doors opened. Magda, Sara and Abigail dashed in. The guards were coming, Abigail could hear them. Abigail ran to the cockpit and started the engine. Sara slammed the doors shut. She found earmuffs and tossed a pair to Magda. Sara slapped a pair over her own ears and then onto Abigail's as she was busy. The helicopter started to rise and the propellers spin faster.
"Lokey, we left her behind!" Magda shrieked.
Sara was horrified. She looked through the window. Lokeyia was nowhere to be seen.
"We need to get her when we gain some height."
Meanwhile, outside Lokeyia struggled. She was also relieved. She had managed to grab onto the bottom bars of the helicopter. The engine deafened her. It rang through her bones, her teeth, her organs and stopped her mind from thinking. Lokeyia held on tight. There was nothing to prevent her from falling to her death. There weren't many rocks around Cirices, but Lokeyia was good at rock climbing. If she could hold onto sharp rocks, she was determined she could hold onto this.
Lokeyia felt like a bird. Her hollow bones were filled with a deafening thrum. The thrum threatened to break them. To snap them. Lokeyia felt wonderful. She was a bird. Lokeyia let out a shrill yell from the depths of her soul.
Magda attached Sara to a harness. There were only two. Abigail switched onto 'hover lock'. She took of Sara's earmuffs and clipped a helmet onto Sara's head. Sara descended.
"She was here all this time!" Sara screamed in delight. Sara took Lokeyia in her arms and allowed Magda and Abigail to pull them both up.
"Hurry up, if you don't get in in three minutes then something bad will happen." Abigail looked nervously at the cockpit. The cords in Magda's neck stood out as she hurled Sara and Lokeyia up. Magda's effort was intense. Abigail helped her, which worked well. When Lokeyia and Sara reached Abigail and Sara, they both flopped on the floor. Magda slammed the door and Abigail went back to the cockpit.
They circled for half an hour until they found Noctus, Jade and Mervis.
"Oh no. They are following us." Sara pointed at the window.
"None to worry. They can't come that close to us. And also, we can fly all the way to Pixella with this amount of fuel. The whole thing is full." Abigail checked the fuel gauge. She flicked the 'hover lock' switch.
Lokeyia and Magda insisted know going down. Abigail would have liked to have gone too, but she needed to drive the helicopter. Sara offered to take over. Abigail shook her head because she was getting used to the anxious feeling of having hers and her friends' life in her hands.
Abigail attached Lokeyia to the harness and clipped a helmet on her head.
"You have been so brave today, grabbing onto the bottom of the helicopter. I am very sorry. I know you can do this." Abigail told Lokeyia.
Lokeyia gave her a weak smile. "We have all been brave. And anyway, I only just was able to cling on."
Abigail double checked the harness was done correctly and hugged Lokeyia and Magda. Still, despite their words she saw Magda's face turn paler than skim milk and saw Lokeyia's rather large pupils dilate in fear.
