"Let's go." said Lokeyia, after she got over that wonderful moment.

"Hey, no." said Magda. "We'd better stop here for lunch."

Lokeyia laughed.

"Lunch?! There's nothing left to eat apart from a fistfull of greens and roots and a few slivers of squirrel"

She was right about one thing. Abigail volunteered to hunt, but when everyone told her she'd better stay here, Abigail objected but ended up staying in the clearing while Lokeyia and Sara would go gather. Magda sung the song again in her beautiful, clear voice and the birds instantly fell silent and when Magda stopped, a chorus of melodies hit Abigail's and Magda's ears.

"Remember how back home they told us that the forest was a scary place where monsters lurked" said Lokeyia as they ate creamy cheese and some recently roasted starchy root called palentonae.

Magda and Sara nodded. It was unbearable to speak of home so Abigail quickly changed the topic.

"We need to get you a horse, Sara. We also need to train you for combat."

"Oh no!" Sara said quickly. "I'm not fighting"

"You'll have to. Magda, Lokeyia and I can fight. Once our enemies find out you can't you'll be at a disadvantage."

"Not if we walk straight into fights."

"It doesn't matter whether we walk into fights or not. We will still be found in some point in time and if we are about to get captured, you will be the first one to be."

"Even if you did try and train me, I don't have a weapon."

"What do you mean?"

"I mean I don't have a bow and arrows, I don't have a sword, I don't have a dagler or whatever the think Magda carries around is called."

"It's a dagger." said Magda absent-mindedly as she chewed the roasted palentonae.

Abigail stood up and searched Sara's pack, drawing the Asterian knife that Sara stole from her family.

"This is a weapon. As long as you are trained, you'll be fine with a knife."

So as soon as Magda finished eating, she buried into her bag and came back with an oddly shaped silver pole. Magda took Sara's knife and began scraping the blade against the pole.

"What're you doing?" Abigail asked curiously.

"Oh, I'm sharpening Sara's knife. You mustn't have done a lot of work with metal and blades." Magda replied swiftly.

That was true. Abigail could fight with a sword, she could throw a knife but she didn't know much more than the basics.
