They both plunged down to the ground. The horses neighed in distress, even though they could smell their owner. They were not used to people dangling in the air. After a few minutes Lokeyia and Magda landed on the ground. Lokeyia hugged Jade tightly. She drew her sword out and felt it in her hands. She loved the feeling of power, of weight, of strength in her hand.

Magda kissed Mervis between the ears and hugged him tightly. She roved through her pack and ate a dried apple ring.

That’s when from above, Abigail realised that she was hungry. The ache had disappeared because of all the stress and anxiety but now it bothered her. She hadn't eaten anything since she had breakfast with Ava. Ava. Ava would be in trouble because of her. Ava would be lucky if she wasn't killed. Again, Abigail felt guilty. Unlike the guilt this morning, this one hurt Abigail like a saucepan over the head or worse. It pulled her down. It made Abigail want to collapse onto the helicopter floor. Ava was sweet and kind.

Stop. This isn’t right. It’s just my hunger. If I keep thinking about this, I will be guilty for losing my friends' life.
