“No you may not.” Sara said aggressively.
“You know that’s blasphemy and scurrility. We love our mayor, he is like a God to us.”
“I don't care.”Abigail stared up into the guard’s face. It was familiar. Strikingly. Magda had turned blue. She stammered.
“You-you’re Sja...Sja’s captor.”
“That is correct, Magdalena. It all fits together, the redhead is Abigail, the pale one is Magdalena, the blondie is Lokeyia and the short haired one is Sara.”His fingers tapped on his pistol. Merope’s technology was more advanced. Of course, Ciricians had guns, but they were too expensive for every soldier or guard to have one.
Abigail had to make a run for it. There was no choice. But running away was almost as good as taking the guard’s pistol and shooting herself. Abigail knew that. Without a seconds notice, she let out a shrill whistle and bolted. The guards pelted after them. Thankfully, Magda, Lokeyia and Sara had ran for it and recognized the whistle.A guard wrestled Lokeyia. Suddenly, Abigail felt her body being lifted into the air. It turned upside down. The guard had put her across his broad shoulders. Abigail kicked his chest and pounded her fists on his back. Finally, she bit him hard. The guard shrieked and released her. Abigail drew her knife and ran.
Magda and Sara were scrambling up the same trees which we saw when we first got here. Lokeyia and I followed. By the time the guards reach the trees we’re three metres up. Other Meropian citizens had joined the chase too. Magda slipped a Bolvero ball out of her bag. She lit a match and lit the end of the wire. She dropped the match as the flames licked the ball. And Magda pegged it.
The explosion was colossal. It shook the trees and bombed the citizens and guards. Slowly, the trees starting leaning over. Abigail, Lokeyia, Sara and Magda jumped down. They bolted for the Rose River. Boats stood ties to the edge of the river.
“I have an idea, but it's crazy.” Sara yelled.
