Abigail awoke with a start in the morning, to find a young woman standing over her.
"Oh, hi errr.... I was wondering why you are in my private quarters?"
"Oh, sorry to disturb you, Abigail but Head Hunter wants to see you at the front of the Hunters' Quarters. By the way, my name is Tinka. He sent you a note."
"Oh thanks, Tinka." Abigail said, slightly embarrassed.
Abigail took the note, which was made of the same stuff that covered her small window. She unfolded and smoothed it out, as the note was quite scrumpled.
Dear Abigail,
Sorry to disturb your sleep, but this is important, otherwise I wouldn't have sent Tinka to give this to you.
From a far off Tarabian base, we have noticed that two Meropian troops are moving our way, towards the base you and I are at now.
Can you please meet me in front of the Hunters' Quarters. Take your bow and a full quiver of arrows. Dress appropriately.
Brooke, Head Hunter
Abigail gasped and jumped. Tinka backed out of the room. Abigail tore off her pyjamas and tossed on a brown skivvy and her hunting leggings/pants. Abigail grabbed her bow from a hook and went to her bedside table, snatched a dozen arrows, leaving half in her room. She found her quiver and dropped the arrows in the quiver. She quickly tied her auburn hair back. Abigail looked around the room, realising she forgot her father's cloak. Wrapping it around her shoulders, snatching the room key and stowing it in an invisible, inside pocket of her cloak, Abigail swing the quiver over her body, slipped on her hunting boots and closed the door.
Sure enough, Brooke stood, waiting outside the Hunter's Quarters, his blue eyes concerned.
"You definently took your time, Gail."
"No!" Abigail said defensively "I did everything as quickly as I could!"
"Quickly is not quickly enough, obviously. I was standing here for ten minutes now."
Abigail sighed loudly and shook her head. Brooke hadn't even styled his sandy brown, shoulder length hair. He had a quiver full of arrows and a bow strung across his body. A sword hung from his belt. They were ready for battle.
