"Hello Mrs. Hemmings!" I greeted Luke's mom, Liz, once we barged in the house.

"Hally! How are you?" She smiled, holding out her arms for a hug. I honestly loved Liz. She was like the mother I never really had.

"I'm great! You?"

"You know, I've just been trying to keep Luke off the streets and in school," she joked.

"Mom," Luke whined from the other room. I heard him digging through his backpack and then dragging his heavy feet upstairs to his room. I giggled.

"Did you eat at Calum's, Luke?" Liz yelled up to him.

"...Yes," Luke hesitantly yelled from the stairs.

"And you, Hal?" She turned to me.

"Oh me? I'm fine! Thank you, though!" The main reason I had really come in the house with Luke was to make sure his mom didn't find out he was hungover or anything. Ultimately, she didn't notice. Luke's hungover state and passive normality around his mom were kind of the same thing. And he was seeming a lot better anyways.

"Gotta go, mom!" Luke rushed back down the stairs and up to us in a different outfit minutes later. "Bye!" He hurried out the door again to the running car.

"That boy," Mrs Hemmings shook her head, "he's... consistent."

I gave her a confused look, "How do you mean?"

"He's always up in his room, writing songs, singing... I rarely catch him doing homework, he's always strumming on that guitar. He's great, I'm so proud of him. That's all he ever talks about... Music and, well... you."

"Me?" I choke.

"Oh Hal, all the time." She gave a chuckle and then covered her mouth. "I said too much. You better get to school, sweetie."

My eyes flickered around the room as I tried to process that information. "Yeah, I better go, bye! It was nice to see you!" I waved and shut the door behind me as I got in the car with a huge grin plastered across my face.

"Why you smiling like that?" Luke said once I was in the car, backing out of the garage.

"You talk about me," I continued to smile. I watched all the blood rush to his cheeks at that.

"Awh, god. What did my mom tell you?"

"Just that you talk about me a lot."

He thought for a while. "...Well, she's not lying, but still... Privacy!" He drove on.

Three minutes later, we arrived at our school. We were, for the most part, running on time today.

"C-can I kiss you before we go into the school?" Luke asked once we were parked, still kind of blushing and neither of us unbuckled yet.

"Why are you asking me that?"

"Remember you told me you wanted our whole dating thing to be a secret until you figured it worked out or not?" He looked confused that I hadn't remembered. But I had.

"I think it's working out just fine, don't you?" I gave him a peck on the cheek. "C'mo,!" I got out of the car watching the front doors of the school suck in the crowds of students.

I made my way around to him, holding out my hand. "I don't care if anyone sees," I told him. "I think I love you."

He took my hand. "I love you, too," he said as he gave that infamous smirk of his, showing off his dimples and making his lip ring slightly stick out. We walked in the school hand-in-hand.
