One Month Later:
"Are you coming or what?" I screamed over the noise of the TV in Hal's living room.
It was 9 something in the evening and I was waiting for her to be ready to leave. We were going out tonight and it wasn't like her to be taking forever to get ready like she was right now.
"I'm coming!" She yelled back from her room.
"Just like you were last night!" I teased and heard her give an annoyed grunt.
Hal and I had been going out for a month now exactly so tonight was our anniversary. So, we had decided to celebrate with a fun night of partying at some clubs just like we always used to.
It was nice to be back in Hal's apartment again because we hadn't hung out there as well as go out to a club in a few weeks for a couple good reasons. 1.) Because we were busy with finals at our school (something Hal was actually trying to focus on.) And 2.) Hal had spent a couple weeks at my house after she had refused to live with her dad since he had cheated on my mom.
However, I had finally gotten her to agree to talk to him a couple days ago and now they have partially made up. Still, I know there is a huge part of Haleigha that will never forgive him. And unfortunately that is something I will never be able to do anything about.
At least Hal got to finally find out from her dad why her mom left. He had cheated on her. That was just one more reason for me to want to stay as loyal to Hal as possible because I knew that was now something she feared in the world more and more everyday.
And where her mother was now? No one knew.
"Okay, I'm ready," I heard Hal coo as she appeared in the doorway of her room. I looked up from the old rerun of How I Met Your Mother I was watching. She was wearing a short black dress with skinny straps along with lacey black tights and high heels. She had her hair curled and she was wearing dark purple lipstick just like she used to.
"...Holy...Shit..." I mumbled, mesmerized by the girl I was too hopelessly in love with to get any more words out at the moment. She had put a lot of extra work into her outfit tonight for the special occasion.
"You like?" She giggled the same laugh that always sounded like bubblegum to me.
"Fuck, Hal..." I finally managed and bit my lip. "I don't know if we should go out now."
"Why?" She approached me and sat next to me on the couch.
"Well, one: because all the guys will be all over you! And two: You look so sexy I'd rather just stay here and fu-"
"Oh, Hemmings save it!" She said before pressing her finger to my lips.
"You're just so beautiful, Haleigha," I whispered as I cupped her face in my hands.
"Oh shh," Hal shushed me. Like I have always said before, Hal isn't necessarily one for all the mushy-gushy kind of stuff. But there were always some things she just needed to hear anyways, like the fact she was the most gorgeous girl on earth.
"Well, maybe in those heels you will be able to reach my lips without standing on your tip toes," I tried to lighten her mood. Hal wasn't actually short, it was me to blame. I was just that tall.
She laughed again, "You are a fuckin dork."
"And you smell like roses," I said as I wrapped my arms around her waist and pulled her on top of me as we fell back on the couch.
Our lips met for a split second before she quickly pulled away. "No, Lucas! You'll ruin my lipstick!" I rolled my eyes. "And you'll get lipstick stains all over your face!" She added.
