Kits all share the 'happy, I'm gonna be a good warrior, mischievous' personality.
* Recently read Spottedleaf's Heart and MAN i didn't like this interpretation. Please let kits want to be medicine cats and respect the position. Also, I think I disagree with this cliché just because of how hard it is to write kits that have interesting, fleshed out personalities.
1. They are babies who were born like 3 weeks ago
2. They keep getting fed the same "being a warrior is so cool and great" by the people around them, how else are they supposed to feel
3. Unless they got hit with horrible visions and the trauma congo line, there's not much to make a child permanently not happy
4. Super jaded, sharp-tongued kits are just funny to me. You are a baby, why are you bitter
So my personal opinion: skip the kit stage, if you want a young MC, get to the apprentice phase asap.
