Say if a cat named Finchwhisper was a very shy and isolated tom. He doesn't like participating in social activities and prefers to be alone. So here.

Finchwhisper lay down on the ground when Barkfoot padded up to him.
"Hey, Finchwhisper," Barkfoot meowed. "Wanna go on a patrol?"
"Sure," Finchwhisper replied with a smile, getting up. "Let's go together."
He ran out of the camp entrance, Barkfoot running behind.

Yeah, that doesn't sound like Finchwhisper does it? So try to stick to personalities instead of forgetting them for plot.

* Yeah, just remember your characterizations. Don't turn your characters into walking shy stereotypes, but stick to the traits you laid out. It makes your characters feel more alive than vessels for plot and exposition.
