Ch. 19

~Alyssa~

"That was amazing Lys.'' Peeta says.

I smile, "Thanks.''

We got far enough away from them. We stop and sit down.

"We need to find food and water.'' I say.

"Yea. I'll go look for some water and berries. You go hunt for stuff.'' Peeta says.

I nod and we climb down from the tree.

"Wait maybe we should stick together.'' I say.

"We'll be fine. Be back soon though.''

I bite my lip. I still think we should stay together. I don't want either of us to get killed.

"It'll be fine Lys. Just stay close by alright?" Peeta says.

I sigh and nod.

"Take this with you then.'' I say, handing him a knife.

He smiles and nods. He hugs me. He pulls away and starts to walk. I sigh. I walk a little bit and then hear feet behind me. I look for a tree. I climb it and look to see Cato and Clove. They stop under my tree.

"Do you like her or something?" Clove asks.

"What!? Of course not! If I liked someone I would've told you! We've known each other since birth!" Cato says back.

"Well what about that girl you were talking about in your interview?" Clove asks.

Cato blushes.

"Um well...'' Cato trails off.

"You don't have to tell me. I know you like 12.'' Clove says.

I blush. Does he like me? I mean he did kiss me... a lot.

"NO!'' Cato says, blushing harder.

"Then why are you blushing!?" Clove shoots back.

"I'm not!'' Cato says.

"Ok whatever you say Cato.'' Clove says and starts walking away.

"Well no duh I like her.'' Cato mumbles and follows her.

I'm blushing really bad now. Once they are far enough, I jump down the tree. I sigh and walk back to me and Peeta's tree.

Does he really like me? Did they know I was there? Was it a trap? Do- do I like him?

I sigh and shake my head. I look at my feet and bump into a tree I guess cause it was really hard. I look up and see Cato. I hurry and stand up and grab a bow, ready to fire if he comes at me. I know it won't be enough to kill him but it'll at least give me some time.

Cato looks at my bow and arrow then at me.

"I'm not gonna hurt you.'' he says.

"And why should I believe you?" I ask.

I hear him mutter something but I can't make it out.

"What?" I ask.

"Nothing. Anyways... I know you were in the tree earlier.'' he says.

I gulp.

"What tree?" I ask.

He smirks and walks away.
