Chapter 18

A Q U A R I U S

I sat with Liam at the beach, enjoying the sun.

"So, are you enjoying the beach?"

I asked him. When we met, he could not swim, and I had successfully taught him how in the three months we have known each other.

"Yeah, I'm pale as a vampire so it's good to get some tanning time."

He said while taking a sip of his pina colada. I giggled and stretched, laying back on the warm sand.

"Man, I wish you could take me out there and show me around. I want to see the coral cove you always talk about and swim with dolphins."

He said looking out into the bright blue waters. I looked at him and saw he really wanted that. I could take him but....

I looked at Vincent and Liam who were trying to get the boat we bought into the water. It was big enough for all of us to go out in the sea and be safe.

I sat up and brushed some sand off my butt.

"Hey, let's go help those sea clams."

I said reaching my hand out towards him, he took it and got up. We walked towards our mates, he walked in the water towards Kyle who was trying to pull the boat in from the front.

"Need help?"

I asked looking at him as he was reading the instructions with a confused frown.

"Ugh, I knew we should have gone to the dock."

He said with a frown. I laughed and walked up to him, wrapping my arms around his waist and snuggled him.

"What's the matter?"

I asked. He sighed.

"We need to get the boat into deeper water where it can float but it keeps sinking into the soft sand, it's too heavy for just Kyle and I to pull."

He said scratching his chin and thinking. I giggled and unwrapped my arms from around him, making him whimper.

"I can help!"

I said. He frowned and looked at me in confusion.

"How?"

I stood back and walked a few feet back in the sand.

"Liam, Kyle! Move out the way!"

I told them in a shooing motion. They walked my direction and asked what I was doing.

I sighed and closed my eyes; it had been a long time since I used my powers. When I reopened them my mate gasped?

"Your eyes are glowing!"

He said smiling and laughing, looking awed. I mentally said a prayer to Poseidon and thought about the sea level rising and the tide coming in more. Quickly the water rose, coming straight to my feet making me groan.

I felt my feet change to flippers and fell straight on my ass, making the rest of my shift happen. My mate and Liam laughed at me and I frowned.

I turned the tables and made water shoot at them, hitting them directly in the face. This time I laughed as they sputtered and coughed.

The boat still had not moved much. I concentrated and made the water come in more. Before it was up to our thighs where the boat was and now it was up to our necks making the boat float.

"Ugh! You're lucky my phone was on the boat Aquarius!"

Said Liam struggling to keep afloat. His mate quickly saved him as Liam clung to Kyle like a monkey. Unlike Liam, Kyle had no trouble staying afloat.

I laughed swimming to my mate who was looking shocked and happy.

"Guys board the boat, I'll help push it out more."

I said ducking underwater, sighing at the feeling of being in my first home. The three of them quickly got on board.

Using my magic once more I created a big wave that pushed them quickly out to sea. I swam after them, my muscles loving the burn of swimming in my true form. When I got to the boat, I climbed aboard leaving my fin in the water.

"Hey babe?"

I called to Vincent as Liam sat down putting his feet in the water.

Vincent looked at me and walked forward, Kyle trailing behind him.

"Two things. One, is it okay if I take Liam out to swim with me? He's been dying to swim with dolphins and see the coves."

Vincent looked at Kyle. Kyle looked wearily.

"I don't know..."

Liam quickly looked at him with big eyes that were getting watery.

"Please baby, please! You know it is my dream to see marine life up close! Please, I promise to make it worth it for you."

He said suggestively at the end but pleaded and still sounded desperate too. Kyle's face softened wanting to please his mate but also keep him safe.

"I don't know... you can barely swim and you can't breathe water! What if something happens? You're screwed!"

He said crossing his arms and shaking his head. This is where I stepped in.

"Actually, I can use magic to make him breath water temporarily."

I said making Liam turn to me excitedly.

"Really?!"

He said clapping his hands and giving me a huge smile. I nodded and looked at Kyle wearily.

"Yeah but I don't think Kyle or Vincent will like it..."

I said scratching my neck. They both turned to me with narrowed eyes.

"Why wouldn't we like it...?"

Kyle said suspiciously. I gave him a half smile and turned to Liam.

"Uh don't take this the wrong way."

I said making him look at me confused. I quickly grabbed his shoulders and pulled him to me and connected our lips. He gasped into the kiss and put his hands on my shoulders to push me away. I pulled away quickly when I heard growls and jumped into the water.

Kyle was being held back by Vincent who was as equally upset.

"WHAT THE FUCK!"

Yelled Kyle, you could almost see the steam coming out of his ears. I gave him a small smiled and looked at a shocked Liam.

"What...?"

Was all he could say looking at me.

"A mermaid or merman kiss gives you the ability to breath water. It'll last the whole day and you can communicate in our language!"

I said looking at him happily. At that news he jumped into the water making Kyle call his name in fear. I ducked under to look at him. He quickly looked at me and screamed.

"THIS IS CRAZY."

I swam too him and helped him the surface.

"BABY IT WORKS!"

He screamed at Kyle laughing and clapping his hands. At his mate's excitement Kyle's eyes softened and his demeanor changed. I looked back at my frowning mate.

"It meant nothing; it was just to give him the powers baby. My kisses are only meaningful when it's your lips at the other end."

I said to him making a small smile appear. I sighed happily because life was good...
