I quickly get out from the taxi, gave money to the driver and ran into café to meet my love, I was dying to meet him after fifteen days, it was such a long period, but I had no option to avoid this trip. My company was opening new branch in other city and my boss needed me there to scrutinize the basic arrangements in branch office. But I was glad that I came just in time, one day before Liam's birthday. I already had bought his gift one month before so I picked up in morning and got his favourite cheese Hazelnut Cake and rushed to his café. I know he is also longing to meet me.
Liam finished his engineering last year and now he is giving interviews but he is waiting for job opportunity in big reputed company with good salary. Liam is quite happy since the day when customers started increasing just like in uncle's time. His café is running great and he is doing creative things for his café to attract attention of many more customers.
I placed the gift and cake box on the counter and saw Liam making art work on the coffee. I tiptoed to his side and put my palms on his eyes from back before he turns back.
"Rebecca, I got you" he said putting my palms on his lips and kissed it. I blushed red and smiled warmly.
"Happy birthday Liam....Live a long happy life and always stay blessed my dear." I said cupping his cheeks, he kissed my cheeks and then hugged me.
"Thank you so much. I missed you Rebecca. I was feeling so lonely without you. But thankfully when you were not here, I met one friend. She's here. Come with me. I will introduce you two with each other." He pulled my wrist and walked me to the table at our left corner. I wonder who is this new friend of Liam?
"hey angel....."
One gorgeous girl in blood red skinny top arose from her chair the moment Liam called her name, she smiled sweetly at Liam and hugged him. "hey" she said wrapping her arms around my Liam's neck. I felt so jealous of whatever she was doing with Liam. I am not getting good vibes from her.
"Hello miss angel" I said sticking out my hand. She stared me weirdly and then Liam and she started laughing. What's going on?
"My name is Greta not angel, Liam gave me that name. So sweet of him" she said smiling at Liam. Here anger was bubbling inside me, how dare he can give such name to any girl except me? What is wrong with Liam?
I tried my best to calm down since I don't want to create a scene.
"Liam, is this your girlfriend?" she asked incredulously, Liam nodded.
"Really?" she said again, "I thought your girlfriend must be hot just like you." she said in smug tone, her eyes were examining my body nastily. My fingers crumpled into fists with her humiliating words. I had enough of her shitty words coming out of her stinking mouth. I wanted to punch that bitch but why Liam is silent even after she had insulted me in front of his eyes.
"I was just kidding, don't mind it. You both look great for each other." She said and laughed it off just like that.
"Let's cut the cake ladies. Come on." Liam said heading towards the counter where I kept cake and my gift for him.
I was so shocked and hurt with Liam's behaviour, how could he make friendship with such kind of arrogant, manner less girl, he didn't say a word when she was insulting me and now he is behaving as if nothing happened.
"I need to go Liam, there's some urgent work. See you later." I said holding back my tears and anger. I can't stand a minute with this evil girl. "Bye" saying I hurriedly run out of the café. I was very very mad at Liam and I wanted to slap that mean bitch but I couldn't.
