Chapter 12

Adam

"Something must be done! If we continue to let the cartels remain active we could have a drug war", I never thought I would say this, but I actually missed the old eight houses. Michael did his best recruiting new members, but we had a long way to go before everyone was self-sufficient. Which meant I had to do a lot of coddling and holding hands. We have been going on and on and on about the unrest in South America. It was normal, and it didn't affect us yet. Most of our big operations are in Venezuela and the Columbia. Neither of which have been directly hit, and in these past two months we've only lost nine shipments out of twenty-five. Not the end of the world.

Mrs. Price was here staring critically at me from the other end of the table. This meeting had nothing to do with alcohol sales or anything with the Middle East. Which meant this was a personal visit," Gentlemen and ladies, I will personally look into the matter", and by personally, I meant Ava would look into it and report back to me. She and Alejandro worked well together,"When I have something to report you six will be the first to know. Until then I'm dismissing this meeting". They weren't happy with an answer, but I really couldn't give a fuck. Everyone slowly dispersed out of the room. Except, Mrs. Price.

Not wasting any time I said,"Something on your mind?"

"You adopted a child. What makes you think you're fit to be a parent?" The way she crossed her arms and legs made me think of Jennifer.

"Fuck off", I said,"Do you have nothing else better to do. No orphans to torture in Mississippi".

"Did I hit a nerve?"

"No you being your normal hateful bitch of a self, is enough to put anyone in a foul mood. Do you have any real concerns--- business wise?" I said.

Completely ignoring me she lean forward crossing her hands in front of her on the table," I don't understand why? Why adopt? You're not there paternal type. And God knows with your family history; the Caffery's were never meant to reproduce", through gritted teeth I remain silence. I couldn't win against Mrs. Price she would fine the thing I was most insecure about and keep bringing it up. Making it fester and rot away at my being. My love for Jennifer was the only thing keeping me for pushing Mrs. Price out of a ten story building.

"What's your point? What I do is none of your business and I would---"

"Yvonne would like a part in the child's life. Seeing as you robbed her of having any grandchildren by Jennifer", She stood with a clear hatred in her eyes and walked to the door.

"No interest in your great-granddaughter?" I yelled to her. Only Mrs. Price could turn Morocco a beautiful paradise into a shit show.

"She's far from mine grandchild", turning around to face me, she slowly walked towards me,"You found nothing more than trash on the side of the road. And as soon as Yvonne tires of having you around--"

I stood facing her off,"Don't you ever call my daughter trash. You hateful cunt", she was speechless. I would make sure Mrs. Price never see Alma and if she keep fucking with me; I'll kill her myself," And just so you can think it over. It was Jennifer that originally wanted to adopt her". I walked past her and headed up to my suite floor.

If Yvonne wanted to be a part of Alma's life I saw no problem with that. Yvonne had always been good to me. And I knew without question she was heartbroken and completely in despair after she learned about Jennifer. What mother wouldn't be?

I opened the door to my suite.

"Adam!" Alma yelled running full speed into me. She had a long sleeve blue and white striped swimsuit with a floppy white hat and the sunglasses I gave her in Mexico. I picked her up and walked farer into the room. She was talking so fast and so animated I had no idea what she was saying. I was getting better at Spanish and Alma was trying with English. She always had a phone on her so she could translate what she wanted to say.
