Each woman is unique and so, of course, each woman’s menstrual cycle is also unique. Some females will have very regular cycles, while others don’t follow the 28-day textbook standard. An irregular cycle does not necessarily mean anything, especially within a year of your first period. If you were sexually active after your last period and now you’re waiting for a period that just won’t show up, then there is the possibility that you’re pregnant. Best to get a pregnancy test to be sure! BUT pregnancy is not always the reason; your period can also be delayed by stress, strict diet, side effects of medications, and in a few cases, diseases such as polycystic ovary disease (multiple cysts on the ovary). So if you’ve ruled out pregnancy and you’ve been studying really hard, or desperately trying to lose weight, relax and eat a burger (or your preferred junk food) and let the good times flow.
However, if the problem persists and you’ve previously had a regular menstrual cycle for over a year, you should definitely visit your doctor.Corrine Aberdeen
