Jimin-
I sit up quickly and run to the bathroom.
And so it begins. Early too. It's still only my first month. Maybe it's because of Jungkook's matureness. Or if it's just trying to make me suffer at five A.M. Either way, I'm spilling last nights spaghetti into the toilet, waking Jihoon up in the process.
"Daddy, are you sicky?" He asks sitting next to me when I finally take my head out of the bowl.
I shake my head. "No, this what the baby in my tummy does when it's feeling sad. It makes daddy feel sad too," I say.
He pouts. "That's not nice. Why would it do that?"
"Because it's just a baby," I say. I stand up and brush my teeth. "Lets go back to bed."
———
"Buggie, take my hand," I say. Jihoon grasps my hand with his tiny one. We walk across the street to both of ours old house. I only have to knock once before my dad opens it.
"Papa!" Jihoon shouts before jumping into his arms.
He dad lifts him with easy and greets him happily. "Hey bug," he says happily. "Ah, I missed you so much."
"I miss you too Papa," he says. He jumps down. "Do you have snackies?"
My dad laughs. "That's all you love me for?" He ruffles his hair. "Yes, I laid them on the table for you."
Jihoon takes off his shoes and runs into the house. I greet my dad with a hug. "Hi dad," I says quietly.
"Hey Jimin," He says. He pulls back. "How are you?"
I nod. "I'm good. I have some news!"
He smiles sadly. "I have some news too. But, it's not good news."
I frown. "What? What is it?"
He takes my hand. "We should sit down for this." We go to the dining room. Jihoon has a plate of candies and is eating it happily. I sit next to him. My dad offers me tea or coffee.
"I'm fine, thank you though," I say.
"Jimin, pick one. You're going to need it. I can't give you alcohol with Jihoon around," He says. I sigh and ask for tea. He makes it quickly since he already had water boiling. He hands me the ceramic cup that I made back when I was in secondary school.
"So, you go first," my dad says.
I shake my head. "I'll clear the air with good news. I don't want to leave in a sour mood." Jihoon watches is with curious eyes. He knows better than to interrupt his papa. I raised him good there.
He sighs and nods. "Your mother is being let out on parole. She's done her time in prison, so they are letting her out."
My heart stops. I place my hand carefully on my scarred leg. "What? Why are they allowing her?"
"She didn't get a long sentence," he sighs. "Only five years. She'll be let out soon."
I shake my head. "No, no! What she did was attempted murder! That should be at least twenty years!"
"Ah, I know. I'm working with lawyers. I'm going to try to get a court date set up. Maybe have a second trial. If you talk about how her abuse effected you, that could help. I know you want her as far as possible. If anything we could get a restraining order. It's the next best thing, bud," he says.
I nod. "Yeah, okay."
I look at Jihoon. His cheeks are full of candy, making them look plumper than they already are. He has Yoongi's face and eyes, but he was my lip. His skin is so pale, the colorful food is staining around his mouth. I would do anything to keep him away from the life I had to live. No one deserves that. I wipe a pink smear off his nose with a napkin. I smile slightly at him.
"So, your news?" My dad interrupts my thoughts. I nod. It's going to be even harder since I'm pregnant now. And I have to keep it safe at all costs, it's not mine.
"Uh, Jungkook and Taehyung have been married for a long time, you know?" I ask. He nods. I bit my lip and continue. "Well, they want kids, but they want it to be their kids. But since they are boys, the only chance they have of that is getting a surrogate."
My dad smiles and covers his mouth.
"Dad, I'm having their baby for them," I say. "I thought it would be the right thing to do."
He nods. "You are such a good kid, Jimin. You don't ever let anyone tell you different." He pulls me into a hug. "You are so lucky to be who you are."
I smile and nod. "There's more. I don't know how much you'll like this, but I think it's a good thing." He sits back down. I look at my hands in my lap. "Yoongi moves in next door. We are hanging out again."
I look up after a while when he doesn't say anything. He is just smiling at me. "I'm so happy for you. You've never really gotten your happy glow back. But, here it is." He pinches my cheeks. "But if he hurts you again, I will murder him. No hesitation."
I laugh. "Thank you dad."
He smiles and stands up. "Let's start on dinner!"
