"I told you. You're not allowed to talk about these girls or let me catch you with them." Wiesel snapped. "Clearly you don't take orders very well."

"Um, sir?" Elsa interrupted. "It wasn't their fault. These other boys were giving us a hard time."

"Well, I don't care. I specifically told them not to let me catch them with you girls or talk about them. And they broke those rules."

"With all due respect, sir--"

"No. It's your faults that you got my nephews in trouble." Wiesel said, shaking his head.

He walked back to the back room, dragging Oscar and Morris behind him. Oscar could turn around slightly in the position his uncle had him in, and gave a small wave and a smile to Elsa. She smiled and waved back.

Whatever it was their uncle was going to do with them, she hoped it wasn't extremely terrible. The poor boys already went through so much.

"I specifically told you boys to not let me catch you with those girls or to interact with them! And what do you do?" Wiesel lectured as he paced in front of his nephews. "The exact opposite of what I told you to do! I don't know why you two suddenly have the urge to disobey me, but I sure hope this doesn't happen again!

"I put a roof over your heads, I feed you, I taught you all I know, and what do I get for my servility? Ungrounded disobedience! I just want what I signed up for when I took you in after your parents passed away."

"Whoa, new kids' were right, Uncle." Oscar interjected. "Those newsies weren't leaving them alone."

"That still does not justify you two helping those girls. I specifically told you not to!"

"Yeah, well--"

"'Yeah, well' what? You two need to be taught a lesson. Tomorrow, you two aren't going anywhere near those girls, because you'll be working all day long. And the day after that, too. Hell, make it a month. And, no free lance for you two. You'll be up bright and early tomorrow, and you'll work late, well past your usual work hours. You need to learn your lesson."

"Yes, uncle." the brothers said dejectedly.

"Good. You'll be sleeping here tonight. Now, get some rest, 'cause you'll need it for tomorrow." Wiesel told his nephews, turning to walk away, but then turned back to face them. "By the way, you're going to be working by yourselves tomorrow. I'll be watching you guys." he added, then walked out of the back room and to their living quarters a few blocks away.

Oscar sighed, and made himself comfortable--or what would be counted as comfortable in the room, considering how there wasn't much to make himself comfortable besides newspapers.

The next morning, the brothers woke up with cricks in their necks and sore backs from sleeping weirdly all night long. Morris sighed, wondering when he'd be able to see the twins again. He hurriedly got dressed and left the back room to start the day. Oscar followed him out a moment later. As the day progressed and the boys worked, their energy and vigor (which they didn't have much of to begin with) decreased.

All until they saw the girls again.

The twins passed by the distribution center as always, minus two trailing newsies this time. They stopped when they saw Oscar and Morris behind the distribution desk, dozing off due to boredom and inactivity. The twins inwardly laughed and walked up to the desk, each holding their respective dimes.

"Hundred papes." they said.

Oscar, who was dozing in a chair and leaning on its back legs, jolted awake and fell off of his chair.

"Owww." he grumbled, rubbing his arm.

Morris on the other hand, was lying on a narrow line of newspapers. He fell onto his back with a loud "thud".

"Ooof." he grimaced, wincing in pain. "Remind me to never do that again."

The twins laughed uncontrollably at the sight of the brothers in their predicament, and Oscar and Morris whipped their heads in the girls' direction.

"Oh. Hey." Morris said awkwardly, standing up. "Didn't see you there."

Oscar stood up and fixed the chair, then went to the girls. "How can I help?"

"We just wanted ta say thank you for yesterday. We would've been able to hold them off, no problem. But we had to get somewhere in a hurry and we didn't really have time to drive them away." Elsa said.

"We wanted to say thank you, but your uncle or whatever dragged you guys away before we could say anything." Belle added, nodding. "I'm Belle, and this is my twin, Elsa."

"Nice to meet you, ladies. Oscar and Morris, although you might already know that from yesterday." Oscar said with a chuckle, gesturing to himself and his brother respectively.

Morris tapped Oscar on the shoulder and pointed to the gates of the distribution center, where their uncle was glaring at them. If looks could kill, they'd have been dead already.

"So, hundred papes, you said?" Morris said loudly, taking the dimes from Elsa and Belle.

They nodded, and Morris and Oscar disappeared behind the desk, picking up the newspapers for the girls. They brought them back to the girls, who whistled, and a moment later, two horses came trotting into the distribution center. Oscar and Morris had looks of shock.

Elsa and Belle put their papers in the saddlebags on their horses, and mounted smoothly. They turned their horses around and walked out.

"See you later!" Belle yelled over her shoulder.

They spent the rest of that afternoon joking around. Oscar and Morris couldn't believe that Elsa and Belle could afford to take care of their horses and themselves, and that Medda had family living in New York. And Elsa couldn't believe she was falling in love with a boy. Belle, too. They both swore to never fall in love, because of what happened to their mother.

"Oh, we send them to the Sheepshead Races. They take care of them for us, free of charge because we do the chores around the stables." Elsa explained. "Works out for us, since we don't need to worry about our horses."

"Hey, maybe we could teach you some stuff we know." Belle suggested.

Oscar laughed nervously. "Ehehehe...maybe another time."

Elsa and Belle laughed, causing the brothers to go red-faced. Belle moved so that she was sitting next to Morris instead of across from him, and leaned into him as the four of them turned to watch the sunset. Morris seemed shocked at first, but then smiled kindly and wrapped an arm around her, pulling her closer to him. He pressed a kiss to the top of her head, and rested his head on hers. Elsa, however, sat between Oscar's legs, leaning back into him. He wrapped his arms around her waist and pressed a kiss to her temple with a giddy smile.

Yes! Part 2 is complete!

There will be a part 3 coming up, which is totally unexpected for me. I thought I would have this be two parts long, but I guess not.

Stay tuned for the next part!
