I strolled through the dark forest, my hand trailing behind me and touching everything. And everything in my wake was all withered and blackened, dead in the expanse of white snow around me. I was happier in winter though, for everything was already dead in winter. I didn't have to worry about killing anything more, compared to spring and summer.
Oop, I forgot to introduce myself. I'm Lucy. I was born with this power, which I call a curse. My hands could kill anything living instantly, no matter the thickness of the clothing or the animal hide, often making it difficult for me to find a friend or interact with life. The only way I could was by wearing my well-crafted gloves, made by my father when I was a little girl. It was specially designed to grow to fit my hands, so I never had to worry about getting new gloves. But I wanted to feel the softness of a flower petal. I wanted to feel the roughness of tree bark, the silkiness of feathers.
It was hard for me to find a friend, too, so I found myself isolated from civilization, talking to the animals or feeding them when they came. There was this one wolf that would come occasionally, and lay by the fire I built that night, the warmth keeping itself warm.
But the peculiar thing about it was that it was not an average wolf. It seemed to be larger than the others, and had a coat as white as the snow that fell each winter. It had the yellowest eyes I had seen, eyes that seemed to pierce your soul and see your deepest, darkest thoughts. I had named it Tundra.
And Tundra was with me when a loud crash was heard close to the mountain that I made a home by. The two of us made our way to the sound, being wary of the life that was left around me. Our footsteps were muffled in the snow, our feet leaving prints. We found the source of the crashing when we stopped at the foot of the mountain. The forest canopy wasn't thick, but I had grown accustomed to the darkness of the forest, and if you looked up, you could clearly see where the...thing...had fallen from.
Tundra lingered behind me, wary of the thing that had fallen. Upon looking closer, I found out that it was a man. He was handsome, no doubt. His hair was cut short, and he had slight stubble. He was wearing a nice blue coat, and a gun was lying a few feet away from him. His head was scraped and his hand was too, blood seeping out of his wounds. I quickly grabbed his arm and tried to pull him away to my camp, but then remembered my curse and that I wasn't wearing my gloves and I had left them at my camp, and dropped him back into the snow just as quickly.
I was beyond shocked when he stirred and opened his eyes. He slowly sat up, looking around, before looking at me. I gasped, and Tundra came bounding back to me from whatever it was she was doing.
"Who the hell are you?" he asked before passing out again.
I scurried back over to where I had dropped the man, and picked him up again, dragging him back to my tent and getting Tundra to help me hoist him onto the bed. She ran off as soon as he seemed secure.
I put on my gloves and grabbed a few washcloths from a shelf I built, and brought a bowl of water with me to the man's bedside. I dipped a cloth into the water and started gently wiping at the blood that streamed from his head injury. Once I wiped all the partially dried blood off, I saw that his head injury was worse than it actually looked.
It was a deep cut, and I quickly folded a clean washcloth and used it to apply pressure to his wound. I looked at his hand cut to see how bad it was; it didn't seem as bad as the cut on his head. As I took the washcloth off of his head, he stirred, and opened his eyes, and looked around. His eyes settled on me, and I gave him a small smile, which he returned with a confused look.
"Where am I? And who are you?" he asked.
"You're in my...hut, I guess...but as for who I am, I'm a lone wolf named Lucy." I said as I took the dirty washcloths and threw them into a basket. I pulled some bandages from the same shelf, and took it over to the man.
"Who are you? You fell from the mountain." I asked him, my eyes also asking if I could bandage him.
He nodded. "I'm James Barnes. But you can call me Bucky."
"Okay. How are you feeling? That fall seemed pretty big."
"Besides the throbbing pain in my head and the bruises all over me, I feel great! Just give me some time to rest."
"Well, I wasn't planning on kicking you out anytime soon. You look like hell." I joked, and Bucky let out a laugh.

That night, I sat on the floor by the door. It was a bit cold, but I didn't care. I ended up dozing off, and when I woke up, Bucky was sitting on the edge of my bed, his foot involuntarily tapping the floor. He was reading one of the books I had taken with me when I left home, and he had a faint smile on his lips.
"Are you feeling any better?" I asked him.
He startled, then looked at me and saw me trying to contain my giggles. "Fine, thank you very much. Still sore, but much better than yesterday."
"That's good to hear." I replied. "But I'm afraid you'll have to leave soon. You can't be around me. Not without facing the consequences. And I don't know what you did, but you haven't died yet."
Bucky looked shocked and a bit offended that I sounded like I wanted him dead. It's been one night and I'm already falling in love with him. I really didn't want him to leave, but I'd never be able to live with the guilt of accidentally killing him. I shook my head sadly, tears brimming in my eyes.
"I'm sorry, but you'll have to leave. I couldn't..." I trailed, quickly wiping my tears.
"Hey, hey, hey. Don't cry. You have such a pretty face that shouldn't have sadness on it." Bucky said with compassion, moving to wipe them away. But I flinched away, even though my face wouldn't kill him. I'd have to touch him to do that.
"No, I..." I started, but was cut off by the sound of shouting and gunshots.
Idk how many total parts this will have, but I do know that it will have at least two parts two it.
If there's anything weird, typos, etc., I did write this on my phone bc I was on a trip and didn't have my laptop with me.
Anyway, hope you enjoyed! Tell me if you want anything changed!
