"Anna, you need to choose."
"What? Mom, I can't."
"You can't keep doing this forever. You can't put it off. You're in love with one and are afraid of hurting the other. We both know which is which. Just choose."
BEEP! BEEP! BEEP!
My alarm jolted me out of my sleep.
10:15 in the morning.
I groaned.
"Turn it off," Morgan groaned from beside me.
I slammed my hand down, turning it off.
"Where is Calli?" I asked.
"She went to her room later in the night."
I groaned again as I rolled out of bed.
"I'm going to get breakfast."
"Okay, make sure you get lots of bacon."
I laughed. "Will do."
I jumped into the shower, letting the warm water run over my body. I sighed.
After changing into clean clothes, I threw my hair into a ponytail.
I grabbed my phone off the dresser along with my earbuds. I needed to run off the alcohol. I didn't get drunk so I wasn't hung over. I just had a slight headache.
Pushing my earbuds into my ears, I took off.
As I was rounding a corner, I slammed right into a hard chest.
I fell hard on my ass. "Ouch," I groaned, ripping out my earbuds.
"Oh, shit! I'm so sorry ma'am! I wasn't paying attention where I was running."
"No, it's fine. I-" I stopped. It was the bartender.
"Anna," he smiled.
"Hi," I laughed. "Nice running into you like this."
"Must be fate." He chuckled.
My smile fell and he noticed.
"Are you hurt?" He asked, concerned.
"Oh, no. I'm fine. Thanks! See you around." I began to walk around him when he caught my arm.
"How about dinner?"
"I'm sorry?"
"Dinner. Tonight. With me."
"Uhm," I laughed awkwardly and thought why not? "Yeah, sure."
He grabbed my phone. "I'm putting my number in here. Just text me the address when you have time."
"Okay," I smiled. "See you tonight."
"You bet." He shook his head and chuckled. "Now don't go around running into other strangers and giving away my date."
I laughed. "No promises."
He turned and walked away. I watched his retreating back for a few seconds before heading to the restaurant.
••••••••
"Breakfast!" I yelled when I got home.
"Ugh, no! Don't yell!" Calli grumbled.
"What she said." Morgan was sitting at the table, head in her hands. I sat a box of bacon in front of her and she immediately dug in.
"How you eat that after a night like last night, I will never understand."
"I don't have a weak stomach," Morgan explained to Calli. I laughed and walked into the kitchen.
"What has you in a good mood?" Morgan asked.
"Well, I might or might not have a date tonight."
"What?" Calli yelled. "With who?"
"The bartender."
"What about Kane and Austin?"
"I don't see any harm in going out on one date. I'm not seeing Kane or Austin."
"Yeah, but-"
"No buts Calli. I'm going on this date. Maybe your brothers and I aren't compatible. I'm just gonna see how this date goes, okay?"
"There's really no harm in one date Cal," Morgan said.
"Fine," She grumbled. "Then you'll be happy to know you aren't the only one with a date tonight."
"Oh my God!" Morgan squealed.
"Calli!"
"I know. He texted me this morning when I woke up."
"You two remind me just how lonely I am," Morgan grumbled.
"You can help get us ready," I offered. Her face lit up in a smile.
"Really?"
"Duh, Anna has no taste in clothing." Calli joked.
"Thanks Cal," I scoffed.
"Kidding, kidding. But seriously, I think we both need help."
Morgan laughed. "I got you!"
After breakfast, we put a movie on and soon enough, Calli and Morgan were out.
My phone dinged.
Austin.
Oh crap.
Austin: How are you?
My phone dinged a second time.
Hot bartender. I still didn't know his name. That's kinda weird.
Hot bartender: I'm ready for our date(:
Me: I would feel better about our date if I knew your name.
Hot bartender: Bryce.
Bryce, that was hot bartenders name.
I put my phone down, deciding to ignore Austin's text. I needed tonight to see if there was anything better than what I felt with him. I just needed tonight. One night.
