Bryce picked me up at my apartment. He was a complete gentleman. He opened my doors, pulled my chair out for me, the whole nine yards.
"This looks delicious," I said as our food was set in front of us.
"Doesn't it? I love this place."
"Is this where you bring all your dates?" I joked.
He chuckled. "No, actually, I take them out to nicer restaurants."
I laughed loudly, causing people to turn to look at me. My face heated and I muttered an apology.
"Don't apologize, you have a beautiful laugh." He turned to the people staring at our table. "You can get back to your meal now, thanks."
I hid my face. "Bryce," I scolded.
"What? They were being rude."
I just shook my head.
We dug into our meals. Gosh, delicious doesn't even cover how good the food was.
"I need to use the restroom before our desert gets here," I said.
"Okay."
As I got up, I turned back to him. "If it gets here before I'm back, don't eat it all!"
"Mm, that might be asking too much."
I laughed and walked toward the restroom.
As I passed the bar, I saw a familiar face.
Austin.
"Shit!" I muttered under my breath.
As if hearing my curse, Austin looked up. We made eye contact and I quickly broke it. I began to rush toward the restroom.
"Anna?" He called.
I ran into the restroom and locked the door.
I back away from it slowly.
The knob rattled.
"Anna, open the door please."
He knocked lightly.
"Anna, just open it."
I sat on the floor and stared at the door.
"Anna."
"Just go away Austin."
"Open the door. I just want to talk to you."
I nodded but then realized he couldn't see me so I stood up and unlatched the door.
He lightly pushed it open and stepped inside, latching it back behind him.
He looked at me for a moment.
"Hey," he whispered.
"Hi."
"What are you doing here?"
"I, uhm-" I stopped. Should I tell him that I was on a date? I mean, it shouldn't matter right? He knew I was going to choose so what would it matter if I chose someone else than him and his brother?
He looked at me questioningly.
"I'm eating dinner," is what I settled on.
"With?"
"A friend."
"Okay," he drawled out.
A knock sounded at the door.
"Anna, you okay in there?" Bryce's voice came through the door.
"A friend, huh?" Austin grumbled. He started to walk towards the bathroom door. I grabbed his forearm.
"Please," I whispered. "Just wait, I'll get rid of him and then we can go somewhere and talk."
He nodded.
"Stay here for a few minutes after I walk out and then you can come out. I'll meet you by the bar once I get rid of him."
He nodded again.
I opened the door and walked out.
"Hey, you okay?" Bryce asked, grabbing my hands.
"Yeah, I just don't feel too well. I'm gonna grab a cab home."
"I can take you home Anna."
"No it's fine. I can make my own way."
"No, I'm taking you home. Come on."
He began to pull me out of the restaurant after throwing a wad of cash down on the table.
He opened my car door for me and I sat down.
I grabbed my phone as he made his way around the car.
Me: Change of plans. He insisted on taking me home. Meet me there in 30.
I put my phone under my thigh as he sat in the drivers seat. He smiled at me.
The drive to my apartment seemed to drag on forever. My mind was reeling with questions.
He parked and then ran around to my side again. The gesture was nice but I was getting tired of him doing everything for me. I am very independent.
He walked me to the front door of the apartment complex.
"I had a great time," he smiled.
"Yeah, me too."
He began to lean in. Oh no.
His lips pressed into mine and I stood frigid.
He pulled away and he smiled again, bigger this time.
"Goodnight beautiful. I'll call you tomorrow. I can't wait for the next date."
I just nodded, smiling tightly.
I watched his car drive away and sighed. I fell against the door and let my head fall back on it.
"Some friend," I heard a masculine voice say.
"You're early," I said.
"I wanted to make sure you got here safe."
"Bryce wouldn't have let anything happen to me."
"So you think."
I rolled my eyes. "Want to come up?"
He raised an eyebrow. "Do you want me to come up?"
"You wanted to talk, right?"
"Yeah, but we can go somewhere else if you'd be more comfortable."
"I know you're not going to hurt me Austin, let's just go up."
He nodded and followed me to the elevator.
We rode all the way up without a word. As I was unlocking my door, I felt hands slide around my waist. I fell back into his firm chest.
He turned me in his arms and placed his forehead on mine.
We both moved slowly towards eachother.
When our mouths finally met, I moaned. God, I've missed this feeling.
He ran his tongue along my bottom lip and I opened. He groaned when I ran my tongue along his. He backed me up into my door and pressed harder into me.
We both pulled away panting.
"So, tell me. Did it feel like that when he kissed you?"
