Those Annoying Quotes

"Everything happens for a reason."

Say it again and I'm gonna have a 'reason' to smack you.

In the face.

With my double-barrel softball bat.

Say it again.

I dare you, Every Adult I've Ever Met.

I just HATE it when adults say this. It's even worse when people you're own age say it.

Friend: Everything happens for a reason!

Me: ....

traitor

I mean come ON, I have never met ANYBODY who tolerates this dang quote. EVER.

It just ticks me off so much, and I can't even really think up the reason why. It's just one of those things that ticks me off so much I feel like I'm gonna explode or go punch something/one...

Okay, deep breaths.

I'm good.

I just feel of it almost like an excuse when something bad happens. Like, is that supposed to make me FEEL better??? 'Cause it doesn't! It really just doesn't. And I know adults are aware of this, it's very obvious. Just today we lost a softball game, and coach/dad said "You know, everything happens for a reason."

It wasn't very subtle as the whole team rolled their eyes.

So here, everyone: When you have kids, NEVER SAY IT.

YOU WILL BE A FANTASTIC PARENT.

OKAY?

OKAY.

(no TFIOS pun intended)

"You're human. You'll make mistakes."

This makes me almost as mad as the first one! I fumbled a ball when we were warming up and I hear assistant coach yell, "It's okay, Cyan-" (he didn't say that, he said my actual name) "You're human. You'll make mistakes."

And I just didn't really reply, just made it quite obvious I was annoyed. So of course he just keeps talking.

Him: Humans make mistakes. Unless you wanna be a robot-

Me: Is that an option?

Teammate: So if the government had some weird mechanical eye or something that would help you make no mistakes, you would take it?

Me: Sign me up.

I just feel like that's an excuse, too. You screw up. "Oh, it's okay, you're only human!"

Well forget being human, if humans screw up as much as I do, we're all going down

My goal is perfection

Not 'being human'.

"Nobody's perfect."

Well, I just said my goal is perfection.

So I don't think I have to explain why this ticks me off.

"Everyone is special."

Now, I'm not trying to be a hater or anything here, but really.

You know, if this quote wasn't so insanely overused it wouldn't have COMPLETELY LOST ANY MEANING WHATSOEVER.

Watch the Incredibles, folks.

"Everybody's special, Dash."

"Which is just another way of saying no one is."

I agree with Dash :D

I just think it's overused and doesn't really have any meaning anymore.

"You can do anything if you set your mind to it."

Just...

No...

Literally every time I hear this, I do a face-palm.

I get it. Kids, go follow your dreams and stuff. Okay. Cool. Whatever.

But I just don't like this wording.

Oh, I can do anything? So, if I jump out the window thinking I can fly to Neverland or something, I can?

Or, Oh, I can do anything? So, if I want to be one of the BAD GUYS and be a robber or something, I can?

-_-. Just... -_-.
