Chapter XX

Sorry for the long wait! Since I haven't updated this story in over a week, here's a longer chapter.

(Y/N)'s POV:

After Willow and I shared our moment we went back above to the main deck and ran into Winter on the way back up. "What brings you down here Winter?" She looked at me and quickly responded, "I was looking for my mother." Willow spoke up behind me, "What is it dear?" Winter kindly went around me and asked, "Are you really gonna join in on this fight? You've been nearly starved and deprived of-" "Winter I'm glad you care for me, but I need to get my strength back some way. Besides, I know (Y/N) isn't gonna be unfair to me." She gave me a stern look to which I responded with my left hand over my heart while raising my right saying, "You have my word I won't pull a dirty trick on your mother." Willow giggled at my childish promise while Winter smiled at my antics. I couldn't help but smile with the two and put my hand out and said, "Ladies first." Willow and Winter nodded at me in thanks as we went back up to the main deck. Once we got up there, Winter went over to Weiss while Willow started to practice some moves to herself on the forecastle across from the quarter deck. I went to the quarterdeck and waited for Ozpin to choose one of his students to challenge one of my crew. As I stood there Ozpin came to my side and asked, "Before we start I have a question." I turned my head and replied, "Do tell." He pointed to one of the gems on the main deck and asked, "What are these gems you have on board? I've noticed they're pulsing with a glow and act as if they're a living thing." I smiled and stood up answering, "These gems are defenses for the ship. Each gem has a unique ability that benefits the ship and its users." I pointed to the one on the forecastle near Willow and continued to explain. "That gem there is the Deep Sea Stone, it can summon a leviathan from the water depths to attack any enemy ship attacking us. It usually stops the ship, rips the sails, and maims whatever crew it can get a hold of before sinking back in to its home." Ozpin nodded to which I pointed to the one on the starboard side and said, "That one is the Gem of Healing. That one can repair the ship's sails, hull, guns, and even heal what injuries the crew sustained unless the injury is to severe. Then the doctor on board is needed." He shook his head once again. The one to the healing gem's left is the Gem of Wind, it gives the ship a favorable wind for a short amount of time, which as that's needed in a battle." He replied, "That's an interesting gem. How come it doesn't go on until the battle's over?" I looked at him and replied in a monotone voice, "Does a gun have infinite ammo?" He nodded from my question and understood why. It runs off of a reserve of magic, much like any gun with a bullet. I pointed to one closes to us and finished, "And this one here is the Stone of Shielding, it provides the ship with a shield for five seconds give or take." He looked at me concerned and said, "Five seconds!? That's not enough time to sto-" "Pipe down will you!? It's suppose to be activated when the enemy is about to fire, completely taking them by surprise." He calmed down and listen to the last thing I had to say. "These gems work off a magic reserve on board. It does recharge, but over a certain period of time so it's best to use them wisely. These four in particular take a lot of energy to use them, so don't get any ideas." "Very well then. Is there anything else I should be concerned with?" I nodded yes and answered, "The shield stone can be negated by the fire stone, mortars, flamethrowers, Stone of Striking, Ice Gem, Poison Orbs, Lighting Stones, and a multi-barreled cannon." He looked at me confused yet bewildered as I shrugged while stating, "There's a lot that goes on in the Tempest Seas Ozpin, you really think we'd stop at magical gems?" I walked away and onto the main deck to get everyone's attention. "Listen up! All here participating do stay out from the middle of the deck, the contenders will be sparring there in the center. Stay on the sides, front, or back and out of their way."The crew and students took my word and moved to one side or the other, but staying near one another. "Ozpin's students, you'll either fight as a team of four, single, or paired. Only would it be fair that you challenge an equally amount of my crew in return. Agree?" They all nodded, or made a gesture that signaled they were alright with these terms and I cleared the way. As I took my spot on the quarter deck the ginger hair girl, Nora, instantly took up her weapon and said, "I CHALLENGE YOU GIANT!" I looked over at Andre and added one more term to reassure the rest of the students, "I'd like to add on and say no killing, maiming, or severely injuring anyone." The crew agreed as the students looked at each other and nodded as well which seemed to calm the atmosphere around the ship as Nora and Andre faced each other. I nodded to the crew I assigned to the bell in front ranged it, Andre took a defensive stance as Nora charged forward swinging her hammer behind her ready to strike. She let loose her war cry as she jumped high above Andre ready to bring the hammer down onto him only for her to fly back as he punched her back to where she took off from the deck. A bunch of the crew had a expression of pain watching that happen along with Nora's friends as well. I was about to speak out till I saw the ginger hair girl move and stand up holding her gut. The boy with the streak of color in his hair approach her I gave them a look of concern. I along with Ozpin and a few other breathed a sigh of relief when she looked at Andre and smiled hold her hand up, giving him a thumbs up that she's alright. "He only knocked the air out of her." The bot with the shield spoke out. I nodded off to him and looked at Ozpin. "She's alright Ozpin, shall we continue?" He looked at Nora giving a chuckle and slowly approaching Andre before giving him a handshake. "I guess so. Please be mindful to them, they're still children." I wanted to say something quite obvious and rude to him, but I kept silent since He listened and didn't attack on the spot like before. I nodded to the students for them to continue and one by one they all started to challenge one or more of my crew as time went on. It felt like an hour or more had passed till Winter, Weiss, and Willow where next. Winter leaned over to Weiss about something, turned out to be partnership and challenged Grace and Victoria to a fight which brought a concerning smile to Grace's face as she and Victoria agreed. I looked over to Winter and Weiss saying, "I do hope you both have a strong arm." They both looked at me confused till they saw Grace grab a large axe. Judging by their faces, I guess it clicked to what I said to her. Winter went in front of Grace and extended her arm like everyone before her. "Fair game?" Grace took her hand with a smile and replied, "Fair game!" Weiss and Victoria did the same and they both separated and walked away to put some distance between each other before turning to face one another. Willow came beside me to watch her daughters fight while asking me, "After them, would you like to have a go?" I looked over to her and replied with a smirk, "You think you can take me on at my own game Miss?" She gave me a hateful smile and responded, "There'll be no mercy for that (Y/N)! You know how much I hate it when you call me that!" I chuckled and extended my hand. Willow took it and gave me a strong, firm handshake physically telling me she's gaining her strength back. We both smiled and watched the sisters fight my crew as the bell rang signalling the fight to start. Grace immediately lunged forward towards Winter with her axe above her head bringing it down to met by Winter's sword. Next to them, Victoria was avoiding Weiss's beowolves she summoned from her glyphs, taking on more than one opponent not paying attention to Grace and Winter clashing steel. Weiss kept Victoria busy while looking at Winter struggling to hold back Grace's heavy weapon forcing Winter to use her other arm to support her other. Weiss was about to make a move on Grace only to be pulled back with a sword clashing into hers.
