Millie's POV:
I approached the half opened door to the writers room cautiously, not really sure of what to expect.
Were they cheering about a finished script? A new project? A personal thing?
I poked my head through the crack in the door, watching the Duffer brothers hunched over the computer at Matt's desk. I couldn't really tell what they were looking at, but it seemed like they were reading some sort of list and then-
CRUNCH!
"Fuck!" I swore at myself as the gravel gave out beneath my white Eleven converse. Great. Now they know I've been watching them for the past five minutes.
"Hello? Who's there?" questioned one of the confused twins inside. I sighed anxiously, and slowly opened the door so they could identify me.
Well, Eleven I guess.
I was dressed in El's dirty sneakers, blue denim overalls, blue and purple splatter-painted short sleeve top, and the blue bracelet Hopper gave her. My hair was done half-up-half-down wavy, and the ponytail section was being held by a pale yellow scrunchie. And of course, the signature 011 tattoo.
I stood in the doorway, the brothers coming up to me slowly with a stern expression on their faces. My breath got caught in my throat. I gulped the lump when they stopped right in from of me.
But then to my surprise, both of their serious expressions changed to joyful ones simultaneously.
What a sick joke. There I was, caught invading their privacy by literally sticking my dumb head through a door into their probably personal conversation. And then they acted mad, and then they acted happy.
I stood there trying to figure out what was so funny looking, like a daft idiot. Ross covered his mouth with his hand and let out a burst of laughter into it.
"Oh God!" Matt wheezed, "It's okay Millie! We're not mad," he chuckled. Thank God.
"But you should have seen your face!" Ross blurted, and the Duffers collapsed to the floor, killing themselves laughing. All I did was turn a deep pink.
The twin brothers got back up after recovering, and looked at me with more professional faces.
"This actually concerns you, Millie. And the rest of the cast," Matt paused, "Do you know where they are?" he questioned.
"I haven't seen the teenagers, but I know that the kids are all here. Sadie and Noah went to go grab a golf cart when I last saw them, Gaten and Caleb were going to wardrobe, and I think Finn said he had hair and makeup around eight forty ish," I rambled on.
"Can you go wrangle them up, El?" Ross joked, earning a light punch from myself.
"Only if you tell me what you're so excited about," I countered, jutting out my hip and placing a sassy hand on in.
"Only if you bring the rest in," Matt stated with a fairly stern tone.
"What if they can't come for a reason like being stuck in a fitting or something?" I asked, wanting to know the full terms of what I was about to get into.
"Alright. You have to find at least four of the remaining five," Ross explained, "That way, only one kid misses it if any."
"Okay, I'll do it," I groaned dramatically. But not too dramatically, I wanted to know what was going on. Now.
"Great. Be back here by like quarter to ten. Give or take half an hour," Matt informed me.
I looked down at my watch, well, Mike's watch, and read the time. Eight forty five. I did the quick math in my head, came to a slightly terrifying conclusion: I only had one hour.
"That's only-" I began.
"One hour, I know," Matt interrupted, "Maybe you'll just get a little something special if you complete the task," he finished, allowing his voice to trail off.
"Alright!" I exclaimed excitedly, turning on my heel but stopping in the doorway.
"Four or five kids, coming right up!" I hollered across the large studio as I walked into the brisk morning air.
Okay. Finn just got into hair and makeup, so I would have to wait to get him. Noah and Sadie are the furthest away and I don't really know where they are, so that's a no. That leaves Caleb and Gaten in wardrobe.
I hop into the hairdresser's golf cart and plug my personal key into the ignition. Sarah let's me borrow her cart all the time, since the lot of them are so far away.
I shoulder checked, then reversed out of her parking spot. Then I moved the cart into drive, and shoved my foot down on the gas pedal. I drove like a maniac around set. It wasn't like I had a lot of things to run into, since buildings and trailers were pretty spread out and organized.
After what seemed like an eternity, I parked the golf cart outside the wardrobe trailer, hopped up the steel stairs, and knocked on the metal door.
The costume lady opened the door, I can't remember her name, but she's new because we needed a whole new wardrobe since the season was set in the summer.
"Hi. Have Caleb and Gaten dropped by this morning?" I asked, hopefully.
"Caleb's trying on today's Lucas outfit in the back, and Gaten finished up a few minutes ago so he headed back to his trailer to chill out," she informed me.
"How do I look?" I heard Caleb ask at the same time I heard a shower curtain open.
"You kind of look like this kid I know," I say in my American accent, "I think his name was Lucas?"
Caleb came into my view, looking at my outfit and wrist tattoo, which explained for themselves why I went El on him.
"El? El? Is that you?" he chuckled, making me let out a light giggle.
"Anyways, I'm here to pick you up. The Duffers have something important to tell us, and I was told to come wrangle you all up," I explained, going back to my regular British voice.
"Yeah?" Caleb questioned, "What are you getting out of it?" he asked, poking me in the shoulder with his index finger.
"How could you assume that I only do things for other people if I get something out of it?" I laughed.
"I don't know. It just seems like something you would do."
"Welp, not this time!" I lied. Sometimes I think he knows me a little too much.
We climbed into the golf cart, and I drove in the direction of Gaten's trailer, which was all the way back by the sound stage.
I came to a screeching hault, as two familiar castmates race around the corner on their own golf carts: a fiery red head, and the GoGo Squeez fanatic.
-----------
A/N: Late update, sorry. I fell asleep before I had time to write it last night.
I loved writing this chapter. Millie's quest thing is writing out longer than I previously imagined, which is fine because now I know exactly where the next few chapters are going.
Haha you still don't know what the Duffers were excited about.
You'll find out soon though. In due time.
As always, thank you all so much for reading.
All for now,
- K
