Finn's POV:
Millie told me she went to go to the ladies' room again, so I was just hanging out by the mini sandwiches until she got back.
"So you and Millie, huh?" a voice asked behind me.
"Oh um," I stammered, turning around to see Maddie, a teasing smile plastered on her face.
"How long have you guys been together?" Maddie questioned.
"About like, a couple of months? I'm not sure," I replied nervously.
"Months!?" Maddie exclaimed in shock, her eyes widening.
"Well, yeah I guess," I confirmed.
"I'm about to go beat Millie's fucking ass," she spat angrily, her face taking an almost demonic turn as she began to storm off.
"Wait!" I called after her, but she didn't stop. I chased her out into the lobby, eventually catching up and loosely grabbing her wrist.
"Let go of me!" Maddie yelled in my face, but I only tightened my grip.
"Listen, you're not going to get mad at Millie over this," I warned.
"Oh, the hell I am," she retorted, "What the fuck are you gonna do about it, huh?"
"I'm going to stop you. Yell at me instead, just don't get mad at her," I explained.
"Playing the protective boyfriend, I see," Maddie chuckled lowly, "Pathetic."
"I'm not-I'm not pathetic," I stammered, starting to get angry.
"I'm not-I'm not pathetic," Maddie mimicked, tipping me over the edge.
"Shut the fuck up!" I blurted, completely pissed off. I immediately regretted it though, because I noticed Millie watching from down the hallway. She crossed her arms and furrowed her brow when she saw she had my attention.
"Excuse me, Maddie," I spat, making my way to the men's room.
"Get fucking back here, Finn," Millie spoke sternly when I got closer to her. I didn't look at her though, I just walked right past to the washroom. I knew I messed up. But I needed to cool off before I could explain myself to Millie.
I washed my face, starting to calm down. I took a deep breath, then walked out of the bathroom, ready for a harsh slap to the face.
Instead, I was greeted by Millie, who sat on the floor in the hallway with her back against the wall.
"I'm sure you have an explanation?" she spoke quietly, hurt coming through in her tone. I nodded, then sat down beside her.
"She came up to me at the food tables, and confronted me about us being together. She asked how long, so I was honest and I told her a couple months or so," I started explaining, "And then she got pissed and said she was going to 'beat your ass.'"
"She said that?" Millie asked in disbelief.
"Yeah, so I chased after her to stop her from ripping your hair out. And then she made fun of me for being protective and stuttering when I started to get pissed. That was it for me, and then I yelled at her," I finished, anxiously waiting for Millie's response.
"Well," she started, "That's totally not okay on her part. And I understand why you yelled, I'm sorry I got mad."
"I don't blame you, it must have looked bad to see your boyfriend screaming at one of your best friends," I considered, and she giggled to herself.
"What?" I questioned.
"You're my boyfriend," she giggled again.
"And you're my girlfriend. Why are we stating the obvious?" I teased.
