Finn's POV:
Gaten.
I froze, staring at the curly headed boy donning a mustard coloured suit jacket through the glass door. His jaw dropped slowly, as if moving through molasses.
I shared a sideways glance with Millie, each of us displaying the same expression:
Fuck.
Gaten brought a tentative hand to the crystal doorknob, and drew the door open with caution.
"What the fu-" he started.
"Gaten, we need you to calm down," I interrupted.
"It's really not what it looks like," Millie added, a hint of desperation in her voice.
"Ok, so you two about to fucking kiss just 'isn't what it looks like?'" Gaten accused, gesturing between Millie and I.
I opened my mouth to defend myself, but no words came out. I closed my mouth and turned my eyes to the balcony floor.
"Look, it's just that I was freezing and Finn came out here and put his jacket over me like the gentleman he is," Millie fired at Gaten, and I looked back up.
"I just don't understand how that could lead to you guys sucking face," Gaten shot back.
"Neither do we," Millie softened her tone, and turned slightly to look at me.
"What do we do now?" she asked, looking directly into my soul.
"I-I don't know," I stammered, shrugging my shoulders. What was I supposed to say?
"Guys?" Gaten questioned.
"Well, Finneus, we need to figure it out then," Millie crossed her arms, ignoring Gaten.
"Guys," Gaten said more firmly, neither Millie or I paying attention.
"Finneus? How the hell did you figure out my name was Finneus?" I raised my voice, becoming angrier. No one knew that was my full name. How did she know?
"Because Finn-" Millie began to shout.
"GUYS!" Gaten hollered at Finn and I, making Millie shut up and I widen my eyes.
"God, you guys have problems, and you need to go figure them out," Gaten advised, "And, I won't tell anyone what I saw."
"Oh thank God!" Millie exclaimed with relief, leaping forward to hug Gaten around the neck.
"I'm going to go inside," she shuddered, walking briskly back inside the hallway.
"Me too," I added. I stopped in the doorway, turning back to face Gaten who stood on the balcony.
"I'm going to stay out here for a bit," Gaten informed me.
"Hey, thank you, Gaten. Seriously," I said gratefully, and he gave me a firm nod. I turned back, spotting Millie who waited in the hallway, leaning against the wall. I walked inside, closing the door behind me.
"Hey," Millie greeted me with a small smile as I leaned on the wall opposite her.
"Hey," I replied, sighing.
"We have got to stop all this," Millie laughed off.
"Or just stop getting caught," I teased, unlike my personality.
"Finn!" she joked, rolling her eyes. I chuckled.
There was a pause, where I stood admiring the girl in front of me. From her wavy hair to pink heels, there was just something about her. And her glasses? She looks so cute when she wears them-
Wait, did I just call Millie cute? Do I really think that?
"Hey, thanks for lending me your jacket," Millie said, causing me to let go of my thoughts.
"Oh um, no problem," I replied, my face flushing slightly. I looked down to my watch, Mike's watch. I wore it everywhere, it was special to me.
"I think the party's about to end," I realized, reading the time.
"Oh, we should probably go find the others," Millie reasoned, and I nodded. I pushed off the wall I leaned against, and walked over to Millie, offering a hand to help her up. She took it, a smilie widening on her pretty face as I pulled her in front of me.
"Let's hold hands," she said, daintily taking my hand in hers, then looked up into my eyes. I smiled into her light brown eyes, and we started walking forward. Sure, she held hands with Sadie and the other boys too, it was her thing. But I felt special. Our linked hands swung lightly with each step, and I sported a wide grin. I was so happy.
We approached the intersection where our hallway met the main entry. I used my height advantage to scan the crowd of people exiting the building. I was about to give up, and then I saw unmistakable fiery red hair tied in an intricate knot.
"Oh there's Sadie," I announced to Millie, who couldn't see anyone but the people she was directly in front of. She was shorter, and that was cute. Fans would go crazy if we gave them a height difference between us. We teased it occasionally.
I gripped Millie's hand tighter, ensuring I wouldn't loose her as I pushed through the crowd towards our co-star. I eventually slipped through an opening, coming right in front of the red head.
"Oh hi guys," Sadie greeted, "Is that Finn's jacket?"
"Oh, um," Millie looked down, seemingly forgetting that she was wearing it. "Yep."
Sadie nodded slowly, appearing to be fairly confused, as expected.
"I texted the group chat, telling the others we would be meeting outside," Sadie changed the subject.
"Let's go, then," I replied, still holding Millie's hand as I swerved through a sea of celebrities out the front door. I turned a sharp left as we reached outside, and Sadie followed close behind. The three of us waited patiently for Noah, Gaten, and Caleb.
"There you guys are!" Noah exclaimed, breaking away from the clump of people and walking over to us.
"Have you seen Caleb and Gaten?" I asked.
"I saw Caleb at the party, and I think Gaten went to go get some air," Noah informed. Sadie, Millie and I shared a nod.
"Found em'!" I heard Caleb announce from the centre of the crowd, appearing to be talking to someone. Gaten's mustard coloured coat came into view soon after, and the pair joined the four of us. Gaten glanced between Millie and I and our linked hands with a knowing look, and I rolled my eyes.
"Alright, let's go," Noah advised, and we followed him to the curb where our limo waited. We all climbed in, the three other boys sitting on the left seats in the limo. I sat across from them on the right side with Sadie and Millie, the latter in the middle. The car pulled away from the curb after I closed the door. I felt something begin to lean on my left shoulder, and glanced to see what it was.
Millie's head shifted softly on my white shirt, wrapping her arms around my arm. She scooted closer, getting more comfortable. Her eyes closed, and her breathing evened out. I think she fell asleep.
I looked away from the girl resting on my shoulder, donning my jacket, and looked across the limo to the boys. Each of them wiggled their eyebrows at me teasingly. I rolled my eyes, and then closed them heavily. They could tease me all they wanted.
It couldn't stop the feeling raging through my entirety, pulsing in through my veins.
Throbbing in my heart.
