hyunri's pov.
this year it seems like competition has been motivating me to study even longer than before. what if the good rumors about seonghwa are really true? i couldn't help but revise until late at night to make sure my number one spot was secure.
i sighed as i grabbed my pencil and calculator for my first quiz of the school year - calculus. math was my strong suit, so i knew i was fine.
"quiet, class. quizzes are out."

after the quiz, the other kids in class a began to talk amongst each other, but i decided to get on social media. it helps me relieve my stress and nerves, so now it was much needed.
of all people, mr. popular, aka seonghwa, tapped my shoulder. i turned in my desk and couldn't help but blush at his pretty smile.
"hey." he said. "just wanted to say, i like your hair thingy."
he laughed, and i swear my heart melted. it was as fluid and smooth as syrup being poured slowly.
mentally, i scolded myself for thinking romantic thoughts about him.
i touched my hair and remembered the fluffy scrunchie i put in this morning. i smiled big and responded, "oh, thanks,"
"sorry, i forgot. my name is park seonghwa."
"my name is hyunri, or hazel. whichever you wanna call me."
he tapped his chin thoughtfully, "oh both are pretty though, so how do i pick?"
stop blushing.
"most people call me h-hyunri, so..."
seonghwa nodded, "alright, hyunri. can i... um, get your number?"
"sure!" i beamed. we exchanged numbers, my hands trembling the whole time embarrassingly.
"i'll text you later, hyunri. only if that's okay with you...?"
i nodded briefly. "that would be more than okay.."
at that moment, i realized i had broke a promise to myself. i couldn't even help myself.
