TY'S POV

It was probably 2 in the afternoon. The squid base was seen right over the horizon. It was a building made of iron blocks and had a roof of lapis lazuli. It was placed right next to the sea side and didn't seem to have much protection. Two stories high, three more stories below, and no protection? It actually looked like we have the advantage. Stupid squids...

"Sky. This is it." I said, glancing over to my adorable boyfriend and leader. He just nodded, determined. I could tell he was ready to fight. "I know." He said. As our horses neared the side of a hill next to the base, I turned to Bodil.

"You and Tyler keep your distance and go around the back of the base. Take squads 2B and 3B. Jason will take Squad 1C and 2C to the west end and start blowing stuff up. The rest of us are going to charge head on. Everyone understand your place?" I said, turning the conversation to the rest of the army. There was a loud cheer. I turned to Sky again, who was staring up at the base walls. He was nervous, but ready.

I placed a hand on his shoulder to get his attention. "You okay?" I softly asked. He sighed and turned to me. "As long as you are." He smiled. I nodded. "We're both coming out of this alive. In fact, we all are. Don't worry. We'll protect each other." I said.

He nodded and dismounted his horse. I did the same. We looked at each other for a second before hugging one another, not wanting to let go. I was scared, to be honest.

I didn't want anything to happen to him. I will protect him with my life. But I also want to live out my life with him. Please Notch, just let him be safe, if not both of us. I looked at him and stared into his sunglasses, trying to trace out the shape of his eyes. "Let's get through this together." I said. He nodded.

And that's when I leaned in and placed my lips on his. Our first kiss. I heard cheer behind me and Bodil gave a wolf whistle, but I ignored it all. I was with Sky and nothing will ruin that. He kissed back, sending an electric feeling down my spine. It seemed like this interaction filled me with courage. I was ready for whatever came our way. Let's do dis.

BODIL'S POV

Me and Tyler lead our groups on foot, leaving our horses tied on a fence post where we left the rest of the army. We were to go around a bunch of thick spruce leaf trees in order to go undetected.

The groups were small. There were only about 15 people in both groups so we can easily swoop in, destroy their supplies, take their data, and leave to help fend off the squids. That was the plan. I had asked for more recruits just in case, but Seto limited me to 30 people.

The strong scent of ink burned my nose already. There must've been a whole bunch of them hanging out in the base. "Where do we stop?" Tyler asked, exaggerating a tired sigh.

I rolled my eyes. "Where ever I say we do, okay?" He groaned. "And do tell where that will be." He said, placing a hand on his hip. His sword was in his other hand. "Why don't you let me worry about that?" I said, looking back to take a quick head count and continuing.

Soon we descended into a dip right behind the other side of the base. It was quiet. No noise came from in the base and this made me uneasy. "Now we're here." I said. He gave a sigh and sat down. "So... What do we do here?" He asked. Does he ever listen?

"Did you just tag along to tag along?" I asked. He nodded. "Pretty much." He said. He just wanted to beat up some stuff. We would've taken him to other invasions if it wasn't for the fact that he sucks at PVP. "Well, we're going to blow shit up basically." I said. "What you usually do?" He grinned. I nodded.

Sky and Seto appointed this master troll to blow up anything and everything I can, but also help this squad get in at a suspected weak spot of a base so that we can do what we need to do. Oh joy. Of course I took this job.

"Then what are we waiting for? Let's do this!" Tyler exclaimed, pulling out a flint and steel. I grabbed his wrist to stop him. "Wait for the signal you ass hat." I warned. He gave a sheepish smile. "Oh yeah. Alright." He chuckled. Even some of the recruits groaned at his ignorance.

"And what's the signal?" He asked. Suddenly there was a loud rumble and the cheer of recruits filled our ears. An alarm blared from within the base and there was the sound of metal clashing metal.

I raised a finger. "That, my friend, would be the signal." I said with a grin. I proudly pulled out my stack of TNT and got to work. I used red stone to make a connection to a lever I placed a couple blocks away. This was the best part.

The recruits got ready. I could basically feel the heat of their determination. Why keep them waiting? My finger itches to pull the lever. My grin grew to an almost insane size.

"And a one. And a two. Aaaaand.... HAVE AT 'EM!" I shouted, pulling the lever and laughing as an explosion blew a crater in the wall and knocking a couple more out of the way.

Without giving time for the smoke to clear out, they rushed in, swords and flint and steel in hand. Those crazy, psychotic recruits shouldn't have any trouble. I motioned to Tyler to come over to me.

"That was awesome, Bodil!" He shouted, sword ready. I nodded. "Hehehehehe yeah! Let's do it some more! Are you up for it, brotato?" I asked, handing him a stack of TNT. He nodded. "Hell yeah!"

And with that we both rushed in, past the smoke and shouts of squids. First thing i noticed was trouble. It was suppose to be a simple plan. I thought it wouldn't be this difficult.

There were dozens of squids already in the room, fighting off the recruits! Some were protecting the data machines and others were pushing back against the recruit. It was almost like... They were waiting for us? A pack of squids came straight towards us.

"Tyler, look out!" I shouted, placing a TNT in front of us and dragging him out of range. The blast killed a few squids. "What the shit?! How'd they know where we were gonna be?!" He shouted. "I was wondering the same thing!" I yelled back.

I eyed the squids. They seemed... Off. They were a lighter, more disgusting blue than usual. There were sharp spikes lining their tentacles along side the suckers. Where had I seen them before? Then it hit me. My gut dropped.

"Recruits, switch to bows and arrows! Don't let them get near you!" I warned, quickly blowing away a few more squids. "W-w-what's with them?!" Tyler asked. I bet he was regretting coming along now. I handed him a bow. "These are poisonous squids! Don't let them stab you with those spikes or you'll be in trouble!" I warned.

I did my best to avoid as much squids as I could as I tried to clear the path for the recruits. We had to get to the data machines! More squids charged at me, so I quickly grabbed a loose block of iron and threw it at the front one. It fell back and caused a domino effect, knocking the rest over.

"Sir! I don't know how much longer we can keep this up!" A recruit shouted. We any recruits hurt yet? "Don't you think I know that?!" I yelled back.

Out if the corner of my eye, I can see Tyler climbing up to a higher post, shooting down squids from his perch. Hey he can be smart for once. And he was actually pretty good with a bow.

As I lined up more TNT I started to wonder how the others were holding up. If the squids knew of our plan, them they must know the best way to fight back against the other squads as well. Please be safe everyone.

And another thing I'm wondering: who was the mole that told the squids our plans?
