Third POV
Many changes happened last night, the night of the announcement, and yet many students don't even know. The students and professors in the Slytherin common room end up spending the night down there. All of them surrounded with creatures and non-creatures. Newfound mates spend their first night of many (hopefully) together, while already known mates spend another cherished night together.
Hadrian walked around the common room unaware of his mates following. It was 3 in the morning, the devils hour according to some superstitions. Draco knew Had was having a hard time sleeping and felt Had leaving their room. Hadrian was watching all the students cuddled up, the professors in armchairs and next to creatures of their kind. They looked so peaceful, he thought.
"I am so sorry..." he whispered.
He was scared. They needed him, needed his guidance, needed his strength, hell they even needed his courage. Courage he didn't have, strength he lacked, guidance HE needed.
With a noiseless sob he collapsed next to the dying hearth. The embers of the fire low as he quietly sobbed. The tears he shed couldn't be shown in the day, not when he had to be strong for all the creatures. All these students and teachers needed him, but he didn't even know who he was yet. His entire life had been a lie, everything he knew was wrong. But before he could even truly process or adjust he was thrown into another battle. This time against the people he once trusted, the side he once loved.
He cried. Not only for all that was going on in Hogwarts, not just for the students and teachers or the creatures affected, but for himself and all that he had been through. For his lost childhood, for the pain his family went through, he cried and as silent tears rolled down his face he couldn't help but feel a sense of despair take over him.
Draco was leaning against a pillar when he heard the sniffling. His creature started to fight him for control wanting to get back to his mate. He fought knowing he needed to give Hadrian his time, time he didn't have though. He was hurt, hurt Hadrian wouldn't come to him ,hurt wasn't told,  hurt that Hadrian wouldn't let take control even though it was his job.
He leaned his head around the pillar and his heart broke because there at the hearth of the fire was his other half and his half was broken.
He wanted to reach out, to hold him, to comfort him,  but he knew he couldn't.
However his creature had other ideas. As soon as he saw Hadrian the Veela in him broke lose. In a heartbeat Hadrian arms and he was holding him. As wrapped his wings around him he couldn't help but notice how cold Hadrian. This worried because Hadrian had to remain warm otherwise he could die. And Hadrian knew this and yet he still left and went to the cold.
A/N- Hey my lovelies I promised and now I deliver! It was really tough writing this and Hadrian almost had me, but it was worth it. For those who are a bit confused by the end, Hadrian needs to stay warm. It's why he is always wearing cardigans or sweaters. He knows this and I hinted at it but Hadrian is depressed and therefore has his suicidal moments. This is what has Draco scared. Enjoy and let me know thoughts! Vote, comment, or follow!
