"Percy!" Aunt Lana swam forward to wrap me in a hug.

"Hi Aunt Lana. Is Kaldur home?"

"Yes, he should be in his room. Do want need anything from the store?" She released me.

"No thanks."

"Okay. I will be back in an hour and Calvin should return in a half hour."

"Okay. Bye."

I watched her as she swam out before turning and swimming towards Kaldur's room.

"Kal-" My words were cut off by a scream.

Kaldur's body was floating in the water, blood swirling around him.

I immediately directed some water to wrap around his throat, trying to stop the bleeding.

My hands shook and tears mixed with the water as my mouth failed to form words.

I gently moved him so he was laying in his bed before...before...

I sobbed. "Kaldur, wake up. Wake up!"

He...

He didn't.

I could only watch as his chest stopped rising.

I looked away...not wanting...not wanting to admit it. When I did, I noticed a bag, an envelope with my name on it sealed inside.

I took out the envelope before opening it.

The only thing inside was a carefully folded piece of paper. I unfolded it and my eyes scanned over the words.

Percy, by the time you read this, I will be gone. I pray you are not the one who discovers me. Either way, do not blame yourself. For Zoë and Bianca, and for me.

There was no action you could have taken to prevent this. I...

I cannot continue with my life, knowing I could have prevented your pain. I should have been there in order to help you. I am your guard or was, I suppose.

I recommend you forget about me and find another guard. One who is not incompetent.

My incompetence is the reason I have done this.

I failed you.

Kaldur

"Percy?" I lightly knocked on her door before opening it.

"Percy!" I screamed, rushing to her side.

A knife laid on the ground, knife coated with blood. The crimson liquid pooled on the floor.

I placed my fingers on the side of her neck, letting out a small sigh when I felt her pulse.

It was weak, but it was there.

"Kaldur what-" Orin choked on his words before he rushed to the dresser and grabbed a bottle of water that I failed to notice.

He unscrewed the cap and immediately poured the small amount of water over Percy.

Tears fell down my face as I stared down at Percy. How could I have let this happen?

"Come on Percy." I mumbled. "Come on."

I kept my fingers to her neck, keeping careful track of her heartbeat.

"There may be nectar in-" I doubled over in pain, but it quickly subsided.

"She's...she's gone." Orin mumbled, eyes trained on her still body.

He stood up, wiping his eyes before grabbing something off of Percy's dresser.
