I stood for the window in the Laird's room, the servants went as an hurricane through the room and Jenny and Ian's stuff was moved to the north room in a blink of an eye.
Jamie walked in with the chest that had arrived from Leoch. He putted it down and then looked around the room with a sentimental look.
"Tis a'maist lik' ah how reminded it, mines faither hud aye a book ower thare, wi' th' page open whaur he stopped," He pointed at the side table and laughed.
He gave me a tour around the room where his father left his things when he was alive, suddenly he dived under the bed an pulled a blade out, giving it to me.
"A five-lobed pommel, It's viking," I said and he nodded proudly. "Made probably in the tenth or eleventh century,"
"Aye, Ye ken yer blades," he said next to.
"Ofcourse, I am a Historian, It would be a shame if I didn't know that." I touched the blade. "I recognize the patterns on the Hilt, It's rare to find one in mine time. especially in this good condition."
I looked at the sword and he sat down next to me. "Ah hardly cam 'ere as a laddie, sae sacred wis th' room o' th' laird, bit ah sneaked in whin he wis awa' workin' oot oan th' fields. Tae haud th' blade fur a few moments. Dream o' th' day it wid be mines," He took the blade and holded it in front of him. "Tis ours noo,"
He stood up and continued the story, how his father had build this house and this land. He hadn't spoke much of his father, nor his mother or his other Brother Willie, all three where death and I imagine it was to painfull for him. But being here brought clearly the memories back.
"A saw him fur th' lest time th' week efter ah wis flogged at fort William th' foremaist time. He hud talked tae Randall aboot mines realise bit that failed, he tellt me tae dae whit wis needed tae git oot o' it alive. He pressed a kiss oan mines cheek 'n' left," Jamie told me with a saddend look, I walked over to him and pulled him in mine embrace, when he told further. "Dougal tellt me he wis thare th' seicont time ah wis flogged, he letted oot a wee sound whin he tought ah died fae th' flogging, he coudnae handle that thought. He dropped tae th' ground lik' a rock 'n' didnae staun up again,"
"It's not your fault Jamie," I took his hand.
A knock on the door interrupted us. "Supper insae aff tae hauld yer horses, sae hurry," Jenny's voice said and Jamie sighted.
"let's wash up then," He stood up and helped me up as well."Sae, Did ye ever run a hoose?" Jenny lent back and I looked at her as I poured some wine in her glass.
"Yes," I answered honestly. I had lived on myself and we had housemaids to keep our house clean.
Even tho it was not the same as running Lallybroch, I didn't wanted to be pulled down by her.
Jamie and Ian walked in laughing and chatting. And as Jamie sat down next to me, he pressed a kiss on mine head.
"Weel ye arrived at th' richt time, th'morra is quaters day," Ian said and I looked questioning to Jamie.
"Tis, lik', we collected th' rent fur th' Mackenzies, bit 'ere th' tenants comes tae us tae pay th' rent." he explained and I smiled.
"Weel, we blether aboot finances efter, th'morra we ur aff tae celebrate th' laird's return," Ian raised his glass and so did Jamie.
"It sounds very public, are you not afraid somebody is going to gave you away to the Redcoats?" I asked worried.
"No," Jamie bowed to me. "We ur lik' fowk 'ere. Nobody wid betray me tae th' redcoats," he reassured me and than looked at Ian. "Ah look at the ledgers after we have eaten,"
"Thought ye wanted tae visited Da's grave," Jenny sent him a look.
"Aye, th'morra with Greer," Jamie answered.
"If he wis alive th'day, he wid expected a visited this forenicht," she fired back and I lost mine appetite during the feeling of a tight elastic around mine stomach.
"If he wis alive th'day, he expected me tae gang ower th' ledgers 'n' prepare fur quater day." Jamie sounded coldly.
The tension almost killed me and I felt like I was back on Leoch again for the first time. I pushed mine plate away and Ian looked at me.
"Urr ye okay Greer?" Ian asked and Jamie looked at me worried.
"No," I stood up. "I'm tired," and without waiting for reactions I walked away.
I didn't care if it was disrespectful or not.
I walked towards the bedroom and opened the window for fresh air, still the thight feeling was there.
A small part of mine brain regretted the fact that I didn't touched the stone to go back to 2019. Jenny clearly was not happy with me here even tho I just met her a few hours ago.
I turned around and removed mine dress. After a splash of cold water in mine face, I walked towards bed. Laid down in it and quickly felt asleep.
