Welp, I guess I gotta buy a new sword. Damn. Anyway, I guess I'll head back.
I gave the menacing aura around me as I walked back to the group. None of them dared to approach me except one, John.
John fucking flew towards me at Mach 5 speed screaming,
"SeoOOOOOOOOJU- *impact*"
"*Cough* *cough* *dying noises* John, what the FUCK!? *cough*"
"You're amazing! You just beat the Lightning Blade!"
"Ok, ok, *cough* just let go of me!"
John destroying my intestines lit up the atmosphere and lifted the menacing aura that kept people away.
Fucking "lightning blade" my ass, he used some kind of tear gas trap on me.
The moment of cheers didn't last long; it was their time to go fight each other.
One by one, their names were called. I watched them all as they prepared themselves, walking to their fateful coliseum. Each one with broken bracelets left in defeat, failing the test.
The time for my group came. John was up with the biggest dude in the entire place, Markas. I noticed him in the corner of the waiting room he was doing something, but I didn't know for I didn't want to trigger any unnecessary flag.
I padded John in the back,
"You got this, probably."
"Oh, thanks, man..."
"Come'on dude, you gotta get through this."
He sighed as he grabbed his sword and walked towards the referee.
"Go break a leg!"
I sent John off with my encouragement. He stood face to face with Markas. With the referee's signal, both of them turned on the bracelet and readied their weapons. Markas swung around his big broadsword and got in his stance.
John pulled his sword out and held them with both of his hands. As the match started, they exchanged some conversations, but I was too far away to get what they were saying.
I wanted John to win, but with appearance only, he was out of his opponent's league. I still believed that John had something up his sleeve. Not knowing either side of the strengths or weaknesses, I only hoped and watched in a tense atmosphere and excitement.
John took a step back and with a hard grip on his sword, he charged in forward. Markas charged at John at the same time. When John entered Markas' attack radius, Markas turned his broadsword sideways and spun around in 360 degrees. John quickly reacted to the turn and slid down, dodging the spin attack.
John swung his sword with the sliding momentum right at Markas' leg, but his sword hit the metal part of his worn off armor and only left a dent.
Markas jabbed his sword straight down but John was already behind him. Both of them backed off and reset.
I gave them 3 claps for those performances. I was able to get an estimate of their strength as they continued fighting off. They were both strong. I would have stood no chance against either of them if I had fought them in my old body.
John amused me as he wore off Markas with his agile body. Markas' movements were significantly slower. John had the right mind to wear him down, but he also was quite tired himself.
It was then when I was sure of John's victory, a loud crash rang throughout the arena with more clouds of dust.
The atmosphere shifted. I immediately felt that something was off.
A blinding force of wind blew the dust away. In a flash, John's body flew out from the clouds and struck the walls. With the impact, his bracelet shattered into dust.
What the hell happened? What!?
The referee stood up immediately this time and declared the winner,
"Winner, Markas Durham!"
A series of clicking noises came from the clouds. Markas jumped out of the clouds, charging towards John with a broken sword and a new appearance.
His body was full of spike that resonated with a crimson glow. He only looked like a monster jumping at guardless John.
There was not much I could do. I've used up most of my mana and charges when I fought the hero.
The referee was freaking out and the crowd was panicking. Markas' speed was unreal; he was flying at speed of at least 40mph.
Oh, what the shit is that thing...
I ran towards John in a desperate attempt to save him, but I was not going to make it in time.
The monster slammed right into the walls. I thought it was over for John, but John wasn't there by the walls.
The hero came out of nowhere with John in his arms.
I quickly rushed over to him along with a couple of other people.
An instructor took John to safety while we drew our swords. There wasn't much time for questions.
"Hey, Lightning Blade, you know what that thing is?"
"A human that turned into a monster."
"Just what the hell?"
"We gotta kill that thing first before it gets out of hands."
"Got it, but I've used most of my mana from the last fight, don't expect much from me."
"Just protect me until I get my spell done."
"Got it."
I immediately drew its agro once it stood back up. Using everything I have with the last bit of mana I had left, I fought.
He chased me down in inhumane speed. He swung his sword at me in madness, but my mana blade cut it straight through. He came with a second thrust with an even more broken sword, right at my guts.
I aimed for the spike-covered hands, but they were so hard that my blades didn't even leave a scratch.
Shit, should've used power strike-
He blasted me with his arm with a monstrous swing. I was sent flying to the entrance gate.
Everything went dark.
I felt a nice gentle breeze throughout my body and a sense of relief. The comfortable and warmth calmed my heart, but it did not last long. I heard echos of a voice that rang throughout my ears.
???
What?
Seo-jun! Damn it, more.
