"Persuade. How do I persuade?"
Jayda looked in frustration through the book. She had read the book cover to cover more than once trying to find the answer. Her mother had refused to give her any information concerning her abilities. Jayda hadn't spoken to her in three days. So far she hadn't been able to find any valuable information.
"Is there any way I can relieve your distress mistress?"
"Hayden, please stop calling me that!"
"But that's what you are mistress."
"Just go get me a soda."
"Of course mistress." He got off his knees to leave the room. As soon as he was gone Jayda groaned in frustration and threw the book across the room.
"Why can't I find any answers? I never asked for any of this! All I want is Hayden back." She began to sob and laid her head on the desk.
"M-mistress."
Jayda sniffed and lifted her head off of the deck. Hayden was kneeling underneath her looking up with concern.
"What's wrong?"
"I-Nothing. Just-what did you need?"
"I forgot to ask what kind of soda you wanted."
"Just forget about it."
She looked into his eyes.
"Hayden, please come back to me."
"I'm right here mistress."
"No, I mean stop acting like this. You're not a worthless slave."
"No, I'm not."
"What did you say?"
"I said I'm not. You're right."
"H-Hayden, are you back?"
"I-I think you've persuaded me."
