Emily's POV:

"Can you believe it's today?" I asked Katie as I zipped up the back of her dress. We were hanging out behind the gym where the graduation ceremony would be in just a few hours. It was a long room lined with mirrors where drama classes were typically held. It had been converted into a dressing room for all the girls to get ready and hang out together one last time before graduating but we're alone at the moment.

Oh, and we're also graduating in about 2 hours. No pressure.

The greatest part was that Katie and I could be together without her parents finding out. We thought we wouldn't be able to hang out together before graduating if her parents would loom around but no parents were allowed back here.

"It's crazy to think everything has come to this." Katie turned towards me. "What are we gonna do now?"

"Well, we'll get an apartment and..."

Kaite laughed and grabbed my shoulder. "Hang on! We don't even have jobs yet..."

"Well, we'll get jobs. Maybe we can work at Chick Fil A?"

"What about cars?"

"We'll take out loans I guess."

"You have to get a job before they let you take out a loan." Katie crossed her arms.

"Then we'll get jobs!"

"How do we get to our jobs without a car?"

You're a real killjoy you know that." I laughed at her and she fixed my robe. We just sort of stared at our hats on the table, almost afraid to put them on because then everything would really be over if we did.

"Em, everyone says this stuff about moving in together and getting jobs together after they graduate. What if it doesn't happen? What if one of us ends up getting a scholarship or getting married right away? One of us could move and..."

"Katie, shut up. Don't get all emotional, your mascara isn't waterproof." I said as sternly as possible but in all truth I was fearing the same things. "Everything will be fine. We're going to stay together, I promise." I gave her a hug.

"I don't really have anyone else that cares about me the way you do." She wiped her eye with the back of her hand.

"I told you not to cry!"
