When I reach the club, Connor is waiting for me outside. I get out of the car and ignore it, walking right past it, into the club. Of course, it follows me, but at least it doesn't say a word.
When I meet the owner of the club, he looks really scared. He tells me that he didn't know one of his androids was a deviant and that something like this never happened before. I assure him that I just want to see the murder scene and that I am not here to close his club. He shows Connor and I the room. We enter, but someone is already inside.
'Y/n, I'm impressed to see that you came'
I fake-smile. Mike was my dad's student, alongside me, but for some reason, after my dad died, we kinda became enemies. We both hate each other.
'Mike, darling, the reason why you never see me at a murder scene is that you always arrive after the case is closed' I answer him.
He looks visibly annoyed, but he soon changes his attitude, to make sure that I can't comment.
'Anyway, your help is not needed here. It's obviously just a perv who got more action than he could handle' he laughs and I'm completly disgusted. 'Oh, the plastic prick is here too' he adds, noticing Connor behind me.
'Thanks, Mikey, but I'll still have a look around if that's okay with you. I can't say I trust your judgement'.
He leaves the room, but on his out he bumps into Connor intentionally. I turn around and snap at him.
'Leave him alone!' But then I realize what I said and add 'You destroy it, you pay it'
Mike looks confused and shocked. I swear I can see the same emotions in Connor's eyes, but it's trying to hide them.
'Him? Y/n, this thing is a machine, not a human. Are you out of your mind?'
'Shut up. Just- just leave it alone'
Mike leaves and I turn around to face the body. Mid-aged guy, around 40 years old, no wounds, might be a heart attack. On the floor, next to the bed, there's an android traci. It's been abused. Signs of struggle.
'You shouldn't have done that, Lieutenant' I hear Connor behind me.
'Shut up, Connor. Help me here'
I don't want to talk to it about this. I really don't.
Connor doesn't say another word and starts analyzing the bodies. It finds out that the guy was strangled by a deviant. It manages to restart the android traci for a few minutes and we find out that the guy had killed it and that there was another android in the room when all of it happened.
I must admit that without Connor this investigation would have been way harder.
Connor traces the deviant by accesing other androids memories. The trace leads us in a back room with unfunctional androids.
'Fucking hell, it already left!'
Connor doesn't say anything, but walks to a group of unfunctional androids. Out of nowhere, one of the androids attacks Connor. I take my gun out and point it at it
'STOP IT RIGHT NOW!'
But when I end my sentence, another android attacks me. I try to push it away from me, but it punches me. I swipe it's feet from under it and we both fall on the ground. I punch it a few times, but it manages to escape and runs outside. I get up and run after it. Connor and the other deviant are already outside. Connor is bleeding. The blue-haired deviant that was fighting Connor joins the other one and takes its hand. They run towards a fence and start climbing it. Connor stops them by pointing the gun at them and shouting at them to stop.
One of the tracis gets ready to attack Connor and I can see Connor shaking. It doesn't want to shoot the traci. But Connor is programmed to do anything for the mission. It will shoot the traci.
'Connor...' I say, trying to get it's attention.
But it doesn't look at me. It doesn't shoot the traci either. Connor puts the gun away and the blue-haired traci starts talking to us.
'When that guy killed the girl, I knew I was next. I was scared. I was just protecting myself. I wanted to come back to the love of my live and just live with her, as far away from the humans as possible. Yes, I killed him, but only to protect myself'
The girls are holding hands. They want to leave. Connor takes the gun out again, but I put my hand on its and stop it. The girls run away.
It looks really confused, but does what I tell it to. I turn around and walk into the club.
'Where are you going, Lieutenant?'
'To have something to eat'
Connor comes after me and joins me. It doesn't say a word in the car, but I can see that it's troubled.
When we reach the fast food truck, Connor waits for me to order my food and then follows me at a table. It watches me, like it wants to ask something.
'Ask away, Connor' I encourage it.
'Lieutenant-'
'Just call me Y/n, everyone used to call my father Lieutenant, so I don't really like it' I interrupt it.
'Sorry. Lieu- Y/n, when you were talking to Mike, you said *he*, not *it* when talking about me. Why?'
I take a bite of my burger. I knew this conversation had to take place.
'Connor, I know you are androids and that you aren't supposed to have any feelings or have consciousness, but isn't this deviancy thing the proof that you guys are actually alive?'
Connor seems to be shocked by my words. I don't want to let it... -fuck it, him- I don't want to let him talk before he hears me out.
'Look, I know you feel something. I know you felt something when you saw those two girls. They were in love, Connor, and you felt that. You didn't shoot them. Connor, what if we are on the wrong side? What if we're stopping people from being free?'
'Y/n, I'm not a deviant. And they have no feelings. They know how to imitate human emotions, but they don't feel them. We are not on the wrong side. If we don't stop them, a war will start'
'Connor, look into my eyes and tell me you didn't feel anything when you saw those girls'
He looks at me. I can tears in his eyes, but they dissapear almost immediately.
'It was a mistake' he says, looking somewhere else.
'It's not a mistake to have feelings, Connor. You showed empathy there. And that is a human emotion. There's nothing wrong with that'
'Stop it, Y/n, please' he pleads.
I don't say anything else about that. I change the subject, because the pain in his eyes is visible. He needs time to understand what's happening to him. And I'm going to be here for him when he realizes.
'I know a person who could help us understand more about the deviants. Wanna come with me?' I ask, smiling at him.
He looks at me excitedly and starts walking towards the car. I laugh while following him, happy to see him better.
"Am I actually falling for an android? That can't be happening" I tell myself.

Author's Note
I just realized that I forgot to mention that when I started to write short imagines during this summer, I began by writing using the first person, but after a while I felt like using the second person was a better decision. So the person might change all of a sudden at some point and I'm sorry about that.
