Maya is absolutely inconsolable today. Her sobs and tears seem almost never-ending and though Taehyung has followed doctor's orders, the cold he had passed onto the small girl, and she still hasn't gotten any better. Taehyung holds her in his arms, bouncing her on his hip as he hums her favorite song over and over again. His eyes are heavy, mind foggy, throat achy, yet he will not rest until Maya is better again. He carries her to the kitchen as she smothers her screams and tears in the fabric on his shoulder.

"Maya, lovie, how does some lunch sound?" Taehyung asks, her snotty sobs dying down to small whimpers. He feels her shake her head no, sniffling before she coughs, "Not even some soup? I'll make your favorite," he bribes and hesitantly he feels her nod and he smiles in relief. Food means medicine, and medicine means sleep. Which will be a blessing for both of them. Jin and Namjoon haven't been able to help as much, and yet Taehyung cannot complain. He wants to be the one to take care of Maya anyways.

There's a knock at the door that halts all of his plans on cooking. Taehyung stares at it while Maya breaks into a new round of tears. Taehyung sighs, fighting the fatigue and headache in his body as the person knocks again and Maya starts sobbing even louder.

"Hush, Pumpkin, it's probably nothing. Calm down, please, please, please," his words fall on deaf ears when the person knocks a third time, "I'm coming!" Taehyung cries, setting Maya on the couch, "Stay, please, Tae Tae will be right back, okay?" Maya just looks at him with big blue eyes, tears streaming down her cheeks, and a wobbly pout on her lips, "Be a good girl, okay?" Taehyung says with a bright boxy smile, trying to dissuade the tears. As soon as he turns for the door, she starts screaming and crying even more and his heart breaks. Along with his patience at the person on the other side of the door. He throws it open, shocked by who is outside. His face pales, eyes widen, and mouth drops in shock as he stares up at Jeon Jungkook, the boy still wearing his school uniform as he stands on Taehyung's doorstep.

"Jung...Jungkook...?"Taehyung hesitantly says, his deep voice cracking slightly. Maya's sobs behind him and Jungkook's smile brings him back to reality, "Now is really not a good time," Jungkook hears the sobs and his lips slip into a concerned frown.

"You've been gone for a while; I thought I'd bring your homework," he says, "Is...is everything okay?"

"I can't...I can't talk about this right now..." Taehyung stammers, panic, and fatigue pounding through his veins. Without another word, he shuts the door in Jungkook's face and hurries back to Maya's side.

Jungkook stares at the wood door, confusion and concern blending with his previous worries. He's also fed up with Taehyung running away from him, especially since he only wants to help. Taehyung looks bad. Not unattractive--Hell would have to freeze over first--but tired. Tired and stressed and like he could break into tears or pass out any second. Jungkook's mental turmoil ends when he hears Taehyung's hushed pleas on the other side of the door. He wants to help him. He has to help him. Somehow... Hesitantly, he tries the handle of the door, surprised when it pops open effortlessly. He steps into the house, setting his bag down in the entryway as Taehyung stares up at him from the couch, his long, lean, arms wrapped around a small crying child.

"What--"

"I'm worried about you, pup. Why don't you let me help you?" Jungkook softly says, and Taehyung feels his thin resolve crumble. He doesn't have enough energy to fight with this stubborn boy. Taehyung just sighs, and Jungkook takes that as an okay to stay. He kicks off his shoes before crossing the small living room and kneeling next to Taehyung.

"Honestly, Jungkook, I'm fine," Taehyung murmurs, his hand stroking up and down the small child's back, "Maya, lovie, it's okay. This is my friend, Jungkookie. He's going to visit with us for a bit, okay? That's all..." Slowly, the child turns to look at Jungkook, who gives her the biggest smile he can muster. Maya looks so much like Taehyung: her slender nose, big almond-shaped eyes, and the wobbly box grin that forms on her pouty lips. She sniffs, wiping her nose and eyes while silently staring at Jungkook, those bright blue eyes feeling like they can see into his soul.
