The secondary characters

I haven't really thought about the consequences of my plans from the start. Since I was a minor character, just a filler para sa story, kaya hindi ko inakala na magkakaroon ito ng side effects.

Gabriel and Emeline were the main lead kaya naman alam ko sa sarili ko na walang mangyayaring masama sakanila dahil sila ang nasa gitna ng storya. This novel is about them. But the fact now is, this novel is my reality. Kung ano ang gawin ko dito ay may madadasog na events sa novel. Magagalaw ang bawat buhay namin. Iyon ba ang nangyayari? Now, me being out of Beatrice wrath doesn't mean I'm completely safe. Hindi ko rin alam kung makakatulong sa progress ng story ang biglaang pagliko ng pangyayari.

Angelina who has been with me from the start of the ball hand me a glass of orange juice. I took it from her and smile.

"You seem preoccupied, Amaury. Is there something you're worried about?"

Sumimsim ako sa juice at saka nagsalita, "It's nothing."

Angelina let out a deep sigh, "The Duke has always been famous to the noble ladies. If you encounter such rude words about you being the duke's fiancée please don't let it bother you."

Tiningnan ko siya with a confused expression. Did she think that my problem was about Dale? Mas mabuti nga sana kung iyon ang iniisip ko ngayon. The noble ladies' words don't affect me at all. Dahil din siguro alam kong hindi nila ako magagalaw. They're nothing so I don't have to be worried. I am now under Dale's protection. Isa pa ay alam ko kung sino ang dapat kong ipagbahala. And for now, my biggest enemy is Beatrice, who seem to avert her attention to Emeline.

"Angelina, I am alright."- I tried to assure her. Pero ang tono ko ay tila nanginginig.

Ngumiti siya ng banayad at saka humarap sa langit, we can feel the cold breeze of the air. The bright full moon was shining on top of us.

"That was also my exact line when I was engaged to Martin." She smiles sweetly as if remembering something, "Martin was the inheritor of the House Lightwood, the successor of Marquis Joseph. On that year, Martin was the most sought-after bachelor in the capital. Bakit nga hindi? He was the Crown Prince aide and soon to be Marquis. How could someone sleep on him right?"

Gusto kong kumontra sa sinasabi niya dahil hindi naman talaga tungkol kay Dale ang iniisip ko. But then, she was sharing her life to me wholeheartedly. How can I burst her bubble like that?

"Then the Empress held her yearly tea party for the noble ladies. I was one of the ladies who were fortunate to go to the castle. That's how I met him. It was actually embarrassing because I got lost on the castle ground then he helped me. We talked all afternoon bago ko napag-pasyahan na umuwi." Tumawa siya ng bahagya.

"The next day, he went to our house and proposed to my parents and ask my hand in marriage."

I can see how genuinely happy she was while talking, "Mama and Papa said the decision is up to me. I was shocked at that time that's why I said no. How could a Marquis marry a house from a Viscount? Specially that Count Zahall, wants her daughter to be engage with him."

"Still, you got married at the end." Singit ko.

Tumawa siya, "Yes. Kahit ilang beses ko siyang tanggihan, he still pursued me. I remember how he starved himself just because I wasn't talking to him."

I chuckled on her story.

On my past life, I never knew this. This information is new to me. Because the novel only focuses on the main lead, and the minor characters like us just got discarded at the end. Just like Amaury, her parents, Angelina and Aunt Mildred. The novel told the readers that their parents were power hungry who would do anything to rise. But then, the author never give attention on the fact na ginawa niyang awkward, meek at fragile si Amaury sa kwento. Because of her personality her parents don't know how to express their affection and care on her. And his brother always wears his poker and stoic face that's why their parents had a hard time figuring out what will make them happy.
