Easy Company had been running for a couple of minutes with Sobel shouting at them constantly, Rose was running behind Malarkey, Skip and Walter Gordon, who everyone called Smokey. Christenson ran beside Rose and looked towards her and whispered, "Are you alright?" Rose smiled, "Yeah Burt I'm good"

The man who had asked rolled his eyes, "Can't you just call me Pat like everyone else?" Rose shook her head and looked forward trying to even her breathing. She wasn't as bad at running as she was when she first arrived but she still wasn't the best and if she was at the back of the group she would have slowed down by now but knowing people were behind her made her keep up the pace. Skip slipped on a rock and went over on his ankle which caused Rose to squeak and tumble over him, her knees scraped along the floor as she was pulled up by Smokey, "Do not help those men!" Sobel screeched and repeated as Skip limped and Rose stumbled back to her place, the men around her glanced worriedly at her but she smiled and whispered, "I'm alright" and they all carried on. Rose glared at the back of Sobel's head as he ran in front of the group and shouted, "Hi-ho silver!" Rose thought about how she wanted to strangle him so he would never say that saying again as she tried to keep up the pace as her knees throbbed.

When they reached to the top everyone was breathing heavily and Rose passed Lieutenant Winters who was shouting words of encouragement at the group as they hit their hand on the point they turned around at. Rose passed by the men who were still running up as she followed the men running down and smiled at them "Come on" she shouted as encouragement. "Private Johnson!" Sobel shouted but she was soon out of sight, the men she left behind tried to hide their laughter as they saw the anger flash across Sobel's face.

It was the next day and they were running up Currahee in full gear, of course, Rose had less to carry as she was a medic but Sobel still made her carry a bag full of medical supplies which probably wouldn't be used out in the field. Rose looked up and blocked everything out as she stared up at Sobel who stood on a rock staring down at them.

The next night easy was fully dressed marching in the dark. All of them were tired and dehydrated but no one took a drink from their canteen as Sobel had ordered them not to, Rose marched next to George Luz and they joked quietly to each other trying to make this night better. "I'm gonna say something" Bull moaned which made George and Rose turn towards him "To who?" they asked at the same time.

Bull rolled his eyes at the pair before glancing back and then looking ahead, "lieutenant winters!" he shouted getting the attention of the lieutenant everyone liked "What is it?" said lieutenant asked glancing to see where the voice was coming from and slowing his walk so he was closer to Bull, "permission to speak sir?" Bull asked.

Winters answered quickly allowing the private to speak but Rose bet he hadn't because Bull began his rant, "Sir we got nine companies, sir, how come we're the only company marching every Friday night, twelve miles, full pack in the pitch dark" Winters replied with the question "why do you think, private Randleman?"

Rose looked towards Bull waiting for his answer, "Lieutenant Sobel hates us sir" Bull stated which caused Rose to roll her eyes, it was obvious to everyone that Sobel hated everyone, "Sobel does not hate easy company," Winters stated, "he just hates you."

Laughter began to fill the air and shouts of "he hates you too" followed soon after, It was Luz who wrapped his arm around Rose and stated "he hates Rose the most" and it was a statement that everyone agreed with including lieutenant winters.

Easy company was back at camp, it was cold and everyone was tired and dehydrated and they just wanted to sleep. Sobel marched in front of the group giving the order for everyone to pour their water onto the ground, Rose hoped that no one had drunk from their canteen but sadly Christison had.
