The Girl In The War (Under Editing)

Part One

It was 13th September 1944 when easy company found themselves back in Aldbourne, they were currently in a pub doing their own thing, Rose was sat on a bar stool in her new uniform as she had been promoted to corporal, watching a darts game laughing at Luz as he spoke to Buck "your having a tough night, people have tough nights" Buck looked over at the medic and stared at her "what are you laughing at?" he asked "we just lost" Buck motioned to Luz and himself as Rose shook her head "i know what y'all doing" she smirked as Buck and Luz looked at her and answered at the same time "i don't know what your talking about" She shook her head and took a drink as Babe began to 'convince' Buck and Luz to make a bet. As Buck was about to shoot Luz spoke up "lieutenant are you gonna shoot lefty all night?" he asked while Toye and Babe looked questionably at him "just curious cause he's right handed" Buck swapped hands and made the perfect bullseye while saying "what would i do without George Luz" Rose got up from her seat and made her way around the group and shook her head at Toye "i can't believe you fell for that" Rose walked past Bill who was telling the replacements about Babe's 'dear john' letter, and as they joked John Marin jokingly glared at them "what are you laughing at" Rose sat down next to Bill and turned to John "don't scare the newbies Jonno" Rose smiled kindly at the three who smiled back at her as she stood again and walked over to Malarky, Penkala and Skip who cheered when they saw her coming.

Meanwhile back at the table one of the replacement stared at Rose as she left and that didn't go unnoticed by Bill "hey" he said "don't even think about it, she has a marine waiting for her" the replacement blushed slightly before nodding.

Rose spent the rest of the night laughing and joking with her three best friends and Malarky who needed help staying upright as he swayed slightly due to the amount he had drunk. Smokey interrupted the fun when he shouted "hey y'all, i got an announcement to make" everyone turned "this here's Carwood Lipton the new easy company first sergeant" everyone clapped and cheered as Lipton began to speak "hate to break the mood here but we're moving out again" Lipton left leaving silence to fill the room and Rose lent her head on Skip's shoulder and Malarkey stopped swaying because he had sobered up suddenly. Skip and Malarkey shared a look as Rose sighed and said "off we go boys"
