Part Four

The next day rose got up when the sun was about to rise and watched it from her window, Clodagh Johnson walked into her daughter's room expecting to see her daughter asleep but when she saw the bed empty she began to panic but then she looked towards the window she saw Rose staring out the window "good morning Rose" Rose jumped slightly at the voice "sorry i didn't mean to startle you its just, this came for you a while back, i forgot to give it you yesterday" Clodagh held out a neatly wrapped brown parcel which Rose took, Clodagh then turned towards the wardrobe "how about i choose what you wear today?" she asked but she didn't wait for a reply as she was already in the wardrobe looked, she pulled out a darkish brown dress "how about this? you loved this dress" Rose smiled and nodded, the dress was placed on the bed along with a black belt and Rose's mother was just about to grab some black kitten heels "ma, i don't think i'll be able to walk in those, i've been wearing boots for so long..." rose trailed off but her mother nodded in understanding and redirected her hand to some brown flats. Then she left to let Rose get dressed out of her nightwear.

Once Rose was dressed she made her way downstairs to see her mother stood with some papers "their your papers" she stated "i thought you could maybe go sign up for school, decide what you want to do with your life" Rose hesitated before grabbing the papers and nodded "i think i maybe want to become a doctor" Clodagh smiled at her daughter "come have some breakfast and then you can head to the college" Rose nodded and sat down in her seat where a full plate of breakfast was put in front of her.

After breakfast Rose made her way to the school where she saw Eugene stood outside the door "Eugene" Rose said as she came to stop next to him, the man smiled at her as they walked in together and walked towards the veterans advisor station where a young girl was sat. Neither Rose or Eugene were dressed in their uniforms so they were the odd ones out in the room but neither of them minded, Rose just wanted to get in and out as fast as she could and Eugene looked like he wanted the same. As Eugene talked to a girl, Rose was called over by another who read her papers and nodded "so you want to take part in some classes?" the girl asked and Rose nodded "what branch did you serve in?" Rose bit her lip slightly "i was a combat medic for the airborne" the girl nodded "medic? so would you like to take part in medical lessons?" Rose nodded again "ok, we have a nurse class..." the girl was cut off by Rose "no, i don't want to be a nurse, i want to be a doctor" Rose licked her lips slightly as the girl nodded "Well those classes are only really for boys..." Rose glared at the girl "but i suppose with your experience you may be able to take those classes" the girl looked slightly scared under the intense glare of Rose and began to mumble "all you... you need to do is... is complete this form in your own time and send it into college and you'll... you'll be enrolled" Rose nodded and slightly snatched the form out of the girls hand and turned to see Eugene storming out of the room. Rose ran to catch up with Eugene and began to walk next to him "you alright?" she asked after a few moment of silence, Eugene stopped and turned to the girl who stopped with him, he took a couple of deep breaths and nodded "yeah... are you going to the ball?" Rose could tell that he just wanted to change the subject and she knew he would tell her when he was ready "yeah, my mum brought me a dress when she knew i was coming home in time for it" Eugene nodded and took a deep breath "you wanna go with me?" Rose smiled and nodded "is that going to be out date?" Eugene laughed and continued to walk "no, i've got something else planned for that"
